So looking at the CL Group Stages with a game left to go, 3 of the 4 teams likely to enter the Europa league round of 32 are:
Olympiakos (on 6 pts, and play Malmo in final game)
Zenit(on 7 pts, play Monaco next)
Schalke (on 5 pts, play Maribor next)
Olympiakos and Schalke will likely get points out of those games, and probably wins, putting them on 9 and 8 respectfully.
If the reds***e win they would go through to the next round of the Champions League. If they tie or lose they end up with 5 or 4 points, which wouldn't put them into the Europa League because Anderlecht and CSKA Moscow are both on 5 at the moment and also Athletic Bilbao who have 4 points play BATE Borisov at home in their final match.
Basically, there is almost no chance that they will make it into the Europa League if they get a point from Basel to bring them to 5 points.

I think you are spot on with that, they see him as their great saviour "unjustly" treated and not backed by the board.
They don't remember the money he wasted or that he started their decline from CL mainstays.
This is correct. 32 teams in first knock out round of Europa League. The 12 group winners (seeded), the 12 runners up and the 8 third placed teams from the Champions League. The 4 of these with the best record are also seeded for the Europa. Seeding only applies for first knock out round.

Its defo 8 from the CL. 16 of the 32 clubs in the EL draw are seeded, so 12 EL group winners, including us
, and the best 4 CL ones. How that is worked out though, I have no idea. But beginning with "L" probably helps........
when you think they might have got sneidelin for that money as well, its all collapsing around brendan and no amount of pretending to write in a note book will stop it, it's just all so glorious
