Tim Howard

Oddly enough a few people on here tried to make out a few weeks back Mignolet was better than Howard, out of interest which goal do people think was the worse to concede at the weekend? Him carrying to ball over the line or Sunderland scoring with a very well taken free kick?

Eh?

I must say I missed any posts where people said Mignolet was better than Timmy.

TH's "clever" move is one of the stupidest moment in his Everton career (and mind, he has a few).
He totally misjudged the speed of the ball and somehow ended up outside the box with the Sunderland player charging in.

duh

Where would you expect him to be positioned?

I don't like the way he leaves the near post free because he's relying totally on the wall blocking it then. And judging by the organisation of his wall the other day, that's not a good thing for us.

I think he would be better off standing more in the centre, or even nearer to the near post in those situations. Then if the freekick taker takes a great freekick and curls it in to the top corner at the far corner, you just have to accept it. But at the moment, he leaves the near side of the goal exposed and is unable to stop it.

Yes I found it absurd that the TV commentators on my live stream were lauding his "cleverness".

He's standing on his line in the centre of the goal in line with the penalty spot (look at the vine), the wall should be covering that side of it does its job properly and he's ready for a shot coming in on his left hand side. Any further over to his left and then the side of the goal with the wall covering it is wide open.

I think tim's positioning was fine, you don't set up a wall then stand behind it. The replay gif's might not be at a great angle but to me we had mc Geady, Lukaku and Distin all outside the line of his inside post. I am sure it must be the angle. plus our 2 tallest players are on the outside of the wall, god knows what Mc geadys doing kung fu practice I think.
