Steven Naismith

Just one of those players that people are going to abuse even when he's playing well and completely overlook the positive things he brings to the team because he was forced to play out of position for a year and performed poorly as a result.

He's already getting abuse on here now and he played very well as recently as 6 days ago.

...he's a good footballer. I just think RM needs to be brave and keep to his team model. When everybody's fit that probably means Naismith or Barkley. I'm a big fan, but if he doesn't play in that no10 role I don't think he should play at all.

He's like oviedo lad, a good player but in the position that we have a better player in ie barkley and Baines, would you be happy with RM shoving oviedo in the team every week if it was to the detriment of the sides balance as a whole? As that's whats happening now.

It's either barkley or Naismith, bobby seems too worried to make the choice, he also needs to realise we have the EL Naismith can easily play in that

But then drop barkley mate, but then he knows barkley is the better player.

Form vs quality that's the decision he's got to make but at present he's not being bold enough making a choice he's doing a sven- stick stevie G and lamps in the middle and hope for the best it's cowardice

Plenty of matches to keep them both happy. The problem is if Naisy drops out we only have Atsu, Ossie and McGeady to come in,who are gash. Should have bought some quality wingers in the summer.

Barkley is more effective than Naismith in that position. Should have been dropped today to give Barkley the start at no.10 and Pienaar on the left. Costly 2 point error from martinez.

I think we all knew the crunch day would come when Roberto had to make this decision upon RBs return. Well it looks as though he cant bring himself to make it on this evidence. The feller had the evidence of last week's game versus Villa to convince him Barkley had to step into acm. How he bottled that decision is beyond me.

Couldn't it be that we are prioritising thursday? Seems like it to me.

Or maybe he's got to think of a way of including both in the team because they both offer different but valuable aspects in attacking areas.

I'd like to hear how Barkley and Naismith operate effectively in the same line up, tbh.

It doesn't seem possible to me. Either of them out wide is stupid beyond belief.

But they both offer it in the same role and that's the problem, you can't have barkley making bursting runs through the centre if Naismiths occupying that position, likewise you can't have Naismith looking to get into pockets of space behind the forward if you've got 4 defenders marking barkley stood next to him. They got in each others way a few times today and Barkley was put out onto the wing and looked poor there.

Working out how to fit them both into the team is the reason we pay Martinez and he's actually quiet good at it.

Worked very well last season against Arsenal, and figuring out how it's possible to do it on a regular basis is what Martinez gets paid a lot of money for.
But then you have to have Lukaku shifted out wide to accommodate Naismith. Is that what we've paid for - a £28M hand servant to Naismith?

I dont think so.

But it isn't your heads stuck in Fifa 15 lad with 10 CAM's playing ahead of neuer and smashing teams 8-0

Gerrard and lampard couldn't play together same as ross and Naismith
