Christian Atsu

Does anyone else think it would be stupid to let Atsu go to the African Nations with Ghana in January, especially with the risk of Ebola spreading?

We've got enough injury problems without this lad bringing back an incurable infectious disease.

The infectious disease we must guard against is optimism, I nearly died of it after the Arsenal match last spring

It's being played in Morocco, where there's (currently) no Ebola, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Think it can delay showing symptoms for up to 21 days so theoretically, a player could go to morocco infected and go back home having contracted the disease and only show signs on return.

Nerver mind someone who got infected by a carrier at the tournament.

Moroccan government wants to call it off.

We may not lose Kone for a month after all!!!!

lol

You're more likely to die from the Flu than Ebola.

The difference, of course, is that there is a cure for the Flu.

There isn't a cure for Ebola, hence the current hysteria.

Airports aren't screening in-coming visitors for the Flu, but they are screening people for having Ebola though. I'd suggest that illustrates the difference in seriousness between the two conditions. ;)

Ebola outbreak: Postpone Africa Cup of Nations, say hosts Morocco
The government of host country Morocco. says the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations should be postponed because of the Ebola epidemic.

The biennial competition is scheduled to be held between 17 January and 8 February 2015.

The request to delay the event has been lodged with organisers Confederation of African Football (Caf).

More than 4,000 people have died in the Ebola epidemic that broke out in west Africa at the start of the year.

The Morocco health ministry made the plea in the wake of their decision "to avoid events which involve those countries affected by the Ebola virus."

I'd say that's pretty much curtains off this event for this season.

It seems like madness having hundreds of thousands travelling from all over Africa to a tournament in Morocco in this current climate.

The government in Morocco will surely take the decision to postpone it themselves of the governing body of African football doesn't do it.

It would be crazy to go ahead with this tournament given current Ebola risks. Pretty sure morocco don't want thier country putting at such risk for the sake of football.

I certainly wouldn't want england opening the doors to the thousands of fans etc any time in the near future.

It's funny, my dad always used to hate Barry Horne, and when Paul Rideout signed for us, he thought it was a terrible signing. Years later, Horne saved us with his goal vs Wimbledon and went on to be a really good player for us, and Rideout of course was a Cup Final goal scoring hero, after a great spell linking up with Ferguson.

Sometimes it is probably better to give players a bit of time and judge them after a decent amount of games.
