Why? Top 4 get CL anyrate. It was very well researched/argued (take your pick) on here a few months back. If we, or Spurs win the EL, and arent in the top 4, England have 5 CL spots next year.

I honestly didn't know that! Cheers mate. I thought EL winners took the 4th place in PL.

I'm not keen on the 4-4-2 diamond we've been using. Would like to see Van Gaal try out the 4-2-3-1 and bring Falcao on at some point. Plus Januzaj has been immense in the ressies of late (yes I know big boy football is a different kettle of fish but he needs games now.)

At least that side has a bit more pace and isn't quite as vulnerable on the wings as the first one you posted, especially on your right side which had Fletcher, Mata and RVP none of whom are the quickest.

We are really going to miss Mirallas for this one though - he has pace but is also good defensively. Atsu has the speed but (like Deulofeu last year) so far he hasn't done much to help his fullback.

a totally inept display from the ref. ruined all kind of flow to the game with his insistance not to play advantage, stones went rampaging through near the end, got fouled got to his feet and had the ball just outside the box, but he'd already blown his whistle. missed a booking for mata when he made a cynical foul to stop us breaking away.

booked blind for a naismith dive which was literally under his nose - he was really really poor today and kind of ruined what would have been a great match.

why don't they stick a referee's whistle deep in some tight pockets? it will allow a greater flow to the game because in the couple of seconds to get the whistle out they could have seen the advantage and play on - it's what every fan wants, a free flowing game. they're all too whistle happy these days, and having it on a string that they carry around in their hand doesn't help imo
