Hibbert

Why would anyone want to see one of our players .

I don't know......you tell me.

It is utterly bizarre that more than two days after the game has finished boys like you are still trying to find fault with Hibbo.

OK....you don't like the lad, we get that.

But this repeated banging your heads on a brick wall is quite tedious and the more you fume about it the dafter your criticism looks.

You think you would just be happy he played well and our injury hit squad came away from The Pit with a well earned point.

Let it drop, sir.

You and the rest of the Fume Brigade are only making yourselves unhappy.

@Khalekan seems to me a decent portion of people here on GOT feel like they were cheated out of vindication with their prematch calls for Hibbo to be burnt at the pyre. He was terrible vs Swansea. And so it was fair to think that Sterling would have absolutely Jefferson Montero'd him. But he didn't. People are forgetting thats a good thing and that the team's result is more important than having a correct opinion.

You see that is what the debate is about.
Did he play well? Opinions are split.
I do like the lad but not the footballer....anymore.
I don't think the criticism looks daft at all if anything the defence of him seems a little dafter.
I think the defenders of Hibberts performance are the actual fumers.
If a player gets criticised it does not mean we want that player to fail....like you wrongly suggested. That is the last thing any Evertonian wants and you were wrong implying that.

The question is...'Did he play well or not' I think he did not you think he did...its that simple so accept it or carry on spitting your dummy out and accuse the people who don't agree with you that they want players to fail. That was a low unjust blow.

wow

Just gobsmacking how we can't do better than Hibbert at RB for a supposed top 4 challenging team.

We have options all over the pitch, apart from GK and RB, those are currently the only 2 positions in which we lack any real quality as back up.

Think thats quite good, not many squads will have 2 quality players in every position, 9 out of 11 isnt bad at all, for a club with our overall budget its quite a feat IMO.

You're cute. If you were just saying that you thought he played badly I wouldn't argue with you. You're entitled to that opinion. In my eyes you'd be wrong but whatever. However:

find another excuse to defend what is now a player that is no longer good enough to wear the shirt.

Wrong. People don't want to see him fail. They recognise that he is well past it and not good enough. We want the best for Everton and playing hibbert does not represent that.

Hibbert does not strengthen the team and until we can forget about loyalties and players being evertonians and look more deeply if they are good enough to don the shirt then we will always be second rate.

You're not arguing that he played badly.
You're arguing that he should be chased out of Everton.
Well he's here. And he's not going anywhere while he has a contract. So I guess I'll just have to learn to deal with you complaining after he plays an entirely decent game of football, just because he isn't a Baines or Coleman.

Not many good, experienced full backs would join us given Coleman's age and quality - they would just be sat on the bench and we are unlikely to pay a wage better than they could get elsewhere playing first team football.

We are very fortunate to have Oviedo and Garbutt backing up Baines tbh

The other top 4 challengers (all with lots more money) have the following as their RB options
City - Zabaleta & Sagna
Chelsea - Ivanovic & Azpilicueta although both are also backup for other positions
Arsenal - Debuchy & Chambers (back for CB as well)
Utd - Rafeal with no specialist backup
Liverpool - Manquillo, Flanagan, Johnson.
Spurs - Walker, Naughton.

Exactly.

Amazing really. People WANT Hibbert to fail. He had a good game Saturday. People are bending over backwards to find criticisms for him (Oh Sterling had a bad day, The fact that he didn't make any mistakes isn't the same as a good game, etc etc)
Are you Everton fans? Then support your team and your players- Tony Hibbert, while horrendous vs Swansea, played a good game vs Liverpool. End of story.
No one wants any blue shirted EFC player to fail - if he was that good why was he subbed when we were 1-0 down for a younger right back/ central defender who looked far more speedy and accomplished in Hibbos position - as I stated Hibbo has been a very good servant to the club a great prospect when he emerged on the scene - its the clubs fault they extended his contract of course he would not turn it down , but sadly he looks like his legs have gone - his two appearances so far imo have been sad to see!
