Why not?

I don't agree with it either, but if everyone else is doing stuff like it why should we be the mugs who have principles?

All I'm saying is, Anderlecht are the selling Club, they can ask what they wish, either we think the player is worth the asking price and stump up or we don't think he is and move on. Don' be using 3rd party proxies. We have had long enough too assess his ability so either he's good enough or he isn't.

Ah suit yourself. It's a way of getting round third party ownership and stiffing a club out of a million or so. We could do things the "right way" and miss out on players or get a bit more hard nosed and put together a good deal for the clab. It's hardly tyrannical when compared to other clubs.

Should clubs be charging us more than they would charge another club though?

buggered up the multi quote there

They seemed to get what they wished from Olympiakos though. And Olympiakos got what they wished, as did the player. I can't really see the problem.

But maybe it isn't, either. You have to look at that too, because there is no evidence to suggest there is a pre-set fee. And Olympiacos aren't stupid they will want to make money and protect themselves too.

They are going to make some money - for doing nothing.

They're also completely protected as we'll pay them the complete fee next season.

They'd have more risk in your scenario, as without a future agreed pruchase clause, they'd be potentially lumbered with a kid @ £3m who hadn't progressed and they didn't want.

We'll have to wait and see won't we.

For Olympiacos, it's the equivalent of buying a cheap bottle of Versace Blue Jeans off eBay for £3 and selling it for a fiver with delivery a year later. Cheap profit, everyone is happy, except the initial sod who sold for £3.

so to ask the obvious question..if he kicks on and plays for our first team and shows as a future Ronaldo talent, Olympiakos only going to ask for 3 mill?

If Roberto plays him in the first team. Have Everton named their first team squad yet for the season?

Don't have to, and either way he'll be judged playing for the 21s.

In principle, yes, but unfortunately there's very little morality in football. And a few weeks of pre-season without a competitive game isn't long enough IMO.
