Player Valuation: £500k
With America's largest youth sport being Football, I believe that there is huge potential as far as scouting. Not to mention the ability to take players on trials from the youth setups in the national team camps or residency programs here. Players such as Jozy altidore, torres( played in recent US game)..etc. They come fairly inexpensive as well... Not to mention The marketing potential is huge. Any ones opinions on the potential of exlploiting the us potential?

yep spot in, the yanks are loving football more and more these days. if you consider how good they are at other sports there is massive potential over there. Its only a matter of time before they produce a string of world stars.

think about how bad they were at football 20 years ago, to come from a nowhere nation in football to a decent side (like the aussies) is only a show of how seriously they take it now.(y)

you can tell we havent had a game for two weeks with some of these threads

Damn cheek. It's not even our national sport, so give us a break. And besides we were not given a chance in 1950 in Brazil, and we still beat you, and let's not forget Boston in '93.

It's kind of stereotypical all we are associated with is bull-riding, baseball and ice hockey, but we were until recently, in the top six of the FIFA world rankings, above England, dare I say it.

Why would you say that this thread is completely irrelevant..."we haven't had a game in two weeks!"

Robert Earl is talking about extending the brand and the US is the most spend happy market there is.

The only shift need to make the US more viable at producing player is by refining the Youth development programs. there is no academy structure or reserve setup.

Why be so quick to judge a country that produces tremendous athletes in every other sport? This is shown by the ability to produce outstanding keepers due to athleticism. With a shift in principal to youth and grass root development the US could easily turn out a plethora of stars

In fairness, this is exactly what the club do.

They take promising young USA players on trial already, FC Dallas' Josh Lambo was on trial not long ago. Tim Howard recommended him to Moyes and Moyes took action. There was passport problems (Greek Authorities took longer than expected to issue his father a passport so he could move to England and he signed pro with Dallas instead).

Is Lambo any good?

He has a point like.

Theres a huge relatively untapped market of athletes there, the US seems to be getting it right in bringing forward soccer so its a only a matter of time before they start producing more aceness like John Herkes.
