James McCarthy

One of Besic, McCarthy and Barry would have to be benched so it makes sense for one of them to go. Would be disappointing though
No, we need them all. Remember how our rash of injuries ruined our Jan/Feb last season? Now we've got Europa league as well. We'll be playing 60+ matches this season.

Yeah of course but I bet all of them expected first team football when signing

He won't go anywhere unless they spend silly money. He does not have full control of his own fate, hence "We'll see what happens." If Utd offer £30+ million it would not surprise me to see him sold, he probably knows that as well.

It would be terrible if he went, but he won't. It's paper talk. Roberto loves him, and if anything would cause him to leave it would be having McCarthy sold out from under him.

He's a professional, he's not going to come out and say, "United? They can f off, they can."

No chance will be alot of roatation this season with the amount of games with probably mccarthy and barry first choice with gibson still gaining match fitness and besic first season in england. Cant believe people would let mccarthy go he is only going to get better

Back in March, Bobby said we'd be giving James a new contract because he had exceeded his role in the club (i.e., taking over Gibson's spot). I remember because people flipped at the thought of him getting a new contract so soon after signing.

If his 'we'll see what happens' quote was related to the interest from Man Utd then that is seriously disappointing and we should get rid..........but it may have been a journo being creative with the order of the quotes so for now we should give him the benefit of the doubt

"We'll see what happens" could be signing a contract extension, I'm not worried at all about him leaving, Baines, Coleman and Roberto have all used the "it's flattering to be linked to clubs like......." Line and are all still here.

.....disagree. Don't forget that we also have Gibson in that equation. Whilst it will be a challenge to keep players content, all top sides have a strong bench and the ability to truly rotate.

Besic is 21, I don't think he has come here expecting to play every weak right away ahead of a very successful midfield duo. With our injury luck, everyone who's fit will get more than enough opportunities to play.
