Is there anyone on here who was at the villa cup game away in the mid fifties when the Goodison roar was born? Tall order I know. It was one of my dad's best Everton stories that the villa players were already out on the pitch when we came out and put their hands to their ears at the roar that greeted us. Think it might have been a QF after we had already knocked out Wolves in the previous round. (Just checked, looks like it was February 1953. Was wrong about wolves, it was man Utd in fifth round at Goodison.) on the way to losing semi versus Bolton. 4-3. 4 0 down and missed pen but stormed back to 4-3, not quite enough.)

i have had some great away days. beating derby i think it was 4-3 at pride park was brilliant. nicolas alexanderson was man of the match.

For purposes of comparison, the 2000 we took to Newcastle for a weekday game being shown live on Sky was over twice the number the Barcodes brought to GP this season and last in similar circumstances. By the way I don't believe Chelsea and Arsenal sold out every away game -- sold out all their chosen allocation maybe but not necessarily having taken the maximum available.

There are a few pages on Facebook and Twitter that have away following pictures and Arsenal and Chelsea looked to have always sold out the full allocation this season just gone. Arsenal always sell out though. Pretty sure their away tickets never even make it to general sale.

Fair enough then, only started watching Everton in the 90's so didn't know that. There has been times in recent years that they haven't sold out the full 3,000 though.

To be honest i think a lot of the old school Chelsea fans might of got out of the habbit of going the game due to the way the club has changed, ticket prices...etc and more of there newer fans might be be up for awaydays like they were in the 80s

First away win of the Moyes era I think mate, think we were 4-1 up if my memory serves me right, and ended up hanging on!!typical Everton!!ha ha!!I think three of our goals were at our end, always good that!

Yes Chelsea brought a massive 1000 to Goodison a few years back League cup semi final. Our away support is miles better than Chelsea

I went into the Bullens Road ticket collection point before the match when we played Chelsea in the league this season and there were away fans buying tickets in there, and it certainly wasn't full at their end.

Didn't they have 4000? I remember them having the full allocation, but not selling it out, even though they put free travel on for it.
