They arent going to make it a no car zone, because if it goes thru there is going to a bloody big tesco next to the ground, you can bet they wont close it Match Days. And this 3 mile issue is only regarding parking. Something which most people seem to think is easy at GP, trust me, its not, as stated i have to walk 20-25 minutes after i park at GP.

For HB, Animal Farm is correct about walking distances:

On average, women walk at 3 miles per hour. That is 20 minutes per mile, on reasonably flat terrain for the average woman. At this pace, the average woman should be able to easily carry on a conversation, but be breathing a bit heavier than when strolling.

For the average man, the speed is a little quicker at 3.5 miles per hour, mainly due to their longer legs and thus longer stride length. Also, men typically have more muscle mass, which increases speed because it is muscles which do the work to move the body.

Obviously, not all car parking is 45 minutes away. The bulk of parking will be Knowsley business park apparently.

Hb I already stated my son in law drops me off at goodison then picks me up after the match.if cars are allowed up to the ground it wont alter anything if not Im f***d:(

Sorry mate i havent read that. You will be able to do that at the new ground, all there talking about is car park some distance from the ground to ease congestion. Your son in law will be able to drop you off though

It's not quite that bleak - you need to lobby the club to provide the same level of service that airlines are obliged to provide at airports.
As I discovered after my mum became infirm in the last years of her life, even cattle-truck, budget airlines like BMI fall over themselves to provide 'chauffeur wheelchair service' to those who can't manage the walk through check in to the plane.
The club will be more than happy do it because the ageing fanbase dictates that it's necessary.

Coyney - I was speaking to the director of consultants advising Knowsley (JMP), he doesn't think there is any problem with fans being picked up and dropped off outside the stadium. Although he did say there was no point in fans waiting outside the stadium to be picked up after a game, he said they may aswell walk to the car with the driver (presumably when it's possible).

The other option would be for you to get a Taxi to the car.

That would be great Robin but I cant see how the club could do it although I know 7 ex season ticket holders who stopped going because they simply needed help to get to games.I'm lucky that Jay is A off every Saturday and B willing to do it as he is a red nose.

My dads mate parks at the school mate, have you considered applying?

I very much doubt that airlines would have bothered if they hadn't been forced to. I guess the key is to make your voice heard to the club and to the local media..8 season tickets is quite a bit of revenue.

There probably won't be a problem before the game, it's after the game there will be a problem, as has been stated, due to the amount of buses etc and the fact that roads around the ground WILL be closed - just like Gwladys Street, Bullens Road, and Goodison Road are at Goodison.

A new stadium is supposed to make things better...

A problem that every single stadium location would have tho? I mean unless you can find somewhere with 3 square miles of empty land to build a stadium and a big car park, all stadia will be left with the same problem.

Mind you, you were only saying the other day how fans who stop going would be replaced anyway....

The club should be aiming to make improvements to all fans' matchday experiences, if Valley Road is closed (which the planning application says will happen) and the Cherryfield Drive is chocker with fans waiting for buses, and buses trying not to run them over, then this won't be the case.

This fella's son only has to wait on County Road for him, or on Langham Street, or any of the side roads that aren't blocked off to County Road from Goodison Road, and he's in the comfort of the car - he might still have to wait a while, but in a dry and warm car at least. At Kirkby, the chances are he'll either have to walk to the car, get a taxi, or wait for an hour.

Still, like you and Halewood said the other day, those who don't go will easily be replaced...

So he wont be able to get picked up from the Tesco Car Park? I thank you. Sit down.

And i said fans like you can be replaced, fans like Roy cant be, loyal fans, fans who whilst struggling to walk still make the effort to go and support the club they love, you cant put a price on fans like that.

"fans like you"

I don't think you know what you're talking about to be honest

You can't be selective when you make statements that "fans who no longer go will be replaced" - either fans who don't go can be replaced, or they can't.

Either the money they put into the club - which is all the club care about - can be found from other sources, or it can't.

When you make a wild, sweeping generalisation, it comes back and bites you in the arse. Unlucky.

Your missing the point, you said that a lot of fans wont go if we move to Kirkby, i said that those fans wont be missed and will be replaced, stop trying to twist my words. You have said you wont go if the club moves to Kirkby, thats either a lie or a statement that shows that you arent a true fan.

Im not sayin that fans who dont or cant go the game arent true fans, but fans who dont go, purely because they dont agree with a locale choice made by the Club, well they arent fans in my eyes and will not be missed.

Im not going to get into a discussion, you have your view and i have mine, its pointless continuing.
