If we finish 5th im fairly sure we qualify for the europa league but what about 7th and 6th and if so what qualification round are we entered into? And do we qualify for the europa league in 5th?

[h=2]Who qualifies to play in Europe?[/h]Teams competing in the Barclays Premier League may qualify for either the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League.
[h=4]UEFA Champions League[/h]The top four teams in the Barclays Premier League qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
English winners of the UEFA Champions League finishing outside the top four places (but who qualify for the UEFA Europa League through their domestic Barclays Premier League position) go forward as Winners to the group stage along with domestic champions, runners-up and third place.
No extra domestic place can be gained by winning the UEFA Champions League, therefore the team finishing fourth drops to the UEFA Europa League.
English winners of the UEFA Champions League who do not qualify through their domestic position go forward as Winners to the group stage, with the team finishing fourth dropping to the UEFA Europa League. In this case, the national association of the title-holder is entitled to one additional place in the UEFA Europa League.
[h=4]UEFA Europa League[/h]There are three places in the UEFA Europa League available: the FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage; the fifth place team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage; and the Football League Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage.
In the event the FA Cup winners are qualified for the UEFA Champions League the FA Cup runners-up will qualify, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative. The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.
English winners of the UEFA Europa League will enter at the Group Stage, gaining an extra domestic place only if they fail to qualify through other means for the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League. If the holders of the UEFA Europa League have already qualified for Europe, no extra domestic place will be gained.
Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League.
Fair Play winners enter at the Qualifying round 1 stage.
This place will automatically go the three best-placed national associations in the UEFA Respect fair play rankings provided they achieve an average of 8.0 points or more. The top three associations will then be entitled to enter the club that has either won their domestic top-division fair play competition, or if they are already qualified, the runners-up and so forth.

It is of course being reported that City may not be allowed into CL next season due to the Financial Fair play Rules and them not meeting them.

The prem would then if that was the case enter the 4 highest place teams that do meet the criteria into CL.

Really not bothered about getting into Europa league tbh. Looking at Swansea this season and Newcastle last, really is it worth it?

Only if you win it. Otherwise, it is merely a few nice away days (fingers crossed for Spurs v Benfica in the next round).

I do not want the Europa league for EFC =why no money in it - squad not big enough - also look what it did to Newcastle and Swansea this season - Champions league is where the money is!

Winning next years Europa League would gain us entry to Champions League so I'd like us to get in if we don't finish 4th this season. It was also force the board to allow Martinez to have a bigger squad.

I understand it's a complicated topic, but really, the chances of 7th getting Europa are still pretty slim.

The one thing that might happen (and might impact us) is Man City winning the League Cup and 6th getting Europa. Yes, they're playing Sunderland, but it's also the LEAGUE CUP. Do you think they'll be arsed since they're in a title chase?

That game is March 2nd. Don't even worry about it until then.

Never seemed to affect us those few years we were in it.

Newcastle and Swansea were both teams who over-performed for a season, there was always gonna be a drop in performance anyway, sure no doubt the Europe league probably compounded to that.

If we can't make CL then I want EL. Once in it I then want to win it!!

What I do not like about the Europa is the stupid rule which allows the 3rd place Champions league teams to enter it at its latter stages - they seem to win it mostly a joke of a competion imo!
