I don't know the full story about the past history of the quenelle, I know it's racist and racism is bad m'kay.

There we go.

Straight from the manual of the recreationally offended.

He doesn't know why it is "racist", he just knows he's agin it

Hi lurking Kopites x

Ha! Nice term: "recreationally offended". Bloody loads of them, everywhere.

The thing is, the recreationally offended are the most important proles in the land. They can make or break prominent people, with the help from the mainstream media.

See also Glenn Hoddle.

It's almost irrelevant what the quenelle actually represents. It's more important to be aware of what people think it represents.

Truth doesn't matter. It's the perception that matters.

Sherlock fans, that was the inspiration for the Magnusson character.

Here's a thought: how does Suarez get on with his fellow nazi...who also happens to be black?

That has him puzzled too I reckon.

You're obviously puzzled as you've misunderstood the term Nazi.

But then it's not the truth of the thing that matters, it's the perception of it :P

Lukaku was naive giving the interview . Should have kept his gob shut . But at the end of the day ,he´s not an Everton player. I´m sure though RM will have a chat with him.

Lukaku needs to shut his mouth.

Find it strange ( but not surprising) how the media and the population really arnt kicking up that much of a fuss about this. If it was an anti Islamic gesture or even something as harmless as say,a cartoon, there would be protests on the streets asking for a beheading.

I find anti semitism more shocking than other forms of 'ophobia' as what happened in ww2 is much closer to home and wasn't that long ago. It has no place on our shores.

Well, Anelka admitted he made the gesture to show solidarity with his anti-semite friend. So the meaning is fairly clear, as he stated exactly why he did it.

Trust you to bring your anti-Muslim agenda in.

Hear hear!

Re: Lukaku, we really shouldn't worry. He's not come off this negatively (save for a few hysterical kopites).

Everton TV did the right thing in taking it offline, not because it was offensive, but just to avoid this perception-based recreationally-offended media orgy.

Anelka's still a tit who was wilfully provocating. But the salute itself should be commandeered by those fighting for the rights of Palestinians, and make it implicitly clear that it's not anti-Zionist, or anti-semitic. It's pro-humanity.
