Player Valuation: £15m
Had his dad in my car this morning. seems a decent fella (even if he is a red)

said jose loves it at everton

said he was fit again after being injured while with england and had trained all week

he was about to leave for maccesfield yesterday, around 12. when jose called him and said he wasnt playing

should be signing new contract soon

From what I've seen --

Rodwell looks a classy player. Comfortable on the ball, passes well, good distribution, can tackle, improved the more games he played. I would loan him out for a season though. His positioning is off and he fades from games he's played which will only improve the more he plays.

Gosling has good potential as an attacking midfielder (even though he's an right back isnt he?). He has some pace, can pass and looks comfortable. What surprises me is the positions he takes up in the box, he's always in there in the thick of it getting good chances - the 3 against Boro, the goal against Sunderland, and even when he came on against Maccelsfield towards the end he was in the box scrapping for a the ball in a good position.

Baxter I havent seen enough of yet.

What stands out is that they're not out-of-the-box great talants worthy to get into the 1st team. They need games to develope their potential - something loans out would do a world of good to. But being how threadbare the squad is, we cant send any of them out.

Thats the way i see all 3 of them. None of them will be stars but will be decent prem squad players with the right tuition

Hard to say IMO. The reason why your red shites, Arsenal's etc getting these foreign youths is either they're got an eye for young talant (as Wenger as) or the lads are regulars in the squad or at least getting regular games at a competetive level in foreign leagues.

English talant in the modern game is full of late bloomers in comparrision to your foreign superstars who hit peaks aged 18-22. With the exception of Rooney, players like Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand all hit their stride aged 24-25 and were just potencial players when they were getting starts aged 18-20.

Our league is at a higher calibre, higher tempo, than anywhere in the world - its why teams buy foreign players who have a certain peak rather than give a chance week in week out to a 18 year old from the youth academy with little competative football if the foreign lad has already played for his club regularly.

Great post mate, you can add your Carraghars, Barry's, Upsons and Bullards to that as well.

I agree, all 3 have the skills to make it, we just need to treat them right and hope they dont suffer injuries like Vaughan.

Breaks my heart to see Vaghan struggle, i really thought he was going to be top drawer. The brief run of games he got 06-07 had us all licking our lips.

But did i hear right on Saturday the Setanta commentator saying he could be back in March. I was in a bar in Andorra in fairness!

Hes pencilled in for a March return, but i doubt we will see him again this season, they will not want to take any chances with the lad.
