I don't think any fan would say that Carroll was anything but a debacle. However, he wasn't on massive wages, and we got a tidy fee for him(Brendan did), and we picked up Suarez for an absolute steal in that window. And the Torres money financed the purchase. I recall people at the time saying that City picked up Aguero for a similar amount to Carroll. That's true, but we couldn't have landed him, and his wages were about 4 times what Carroll's were, so we're not comparing apples with apples.

Most importantly, this was not under Brendan's tenure, so what else needs to be said?

You could have easily paid his wages if you didnt buy about 5 utter tosh players.

Buy less tosh players, buy more higher end players, but your right tho, Aguero wouldnt go to a team that finishes 7th and 8th.

I quite like Coutinho as a player. Tidy footwork, very good through ball on him, not fast or strong but can make up for it by winning free kicks etc. Reminds me of Pienaar in a lot of ways. If they were the same age I'd still have Pienaar like. He rarely fades in big games, Pienaar. He's the cleverer of the two as well, imo, but that could be largely just experience.

If Coutinho progresses well, he'll be a top class player. He's got the ability for sure, but he's not quite showing enough of it. He just needs to grow into the English game physically and learn to dictate a game against good opponents. I'm not certain that'll happen at all, like.

Either way, if the playing field was level and we had the money to blow on players like him and all the rest mentioned above, God knows where we'd be. Likewise, if Liverpool had been on our budget the last ten years, they'd probably be scrapping about at the bottom of the league.

Add that to Charlie Adam (£7million sold for £4million). Jordan Henderson (£18million and still turbogash). Stewart Downing (£20million sold for £5million).

Add in agents fees and wages...

You've lost about £35million to £40million or more total there.

You get the impression that business and Liverpool don't go into the same sentence.



Add that to Brendan Rogers £93million purchases and its hard to see where you'll next break even given these gash transfers.


You have about £125million in spends there on a team reliant on a racist.

Well, these things happen. Managers change. They have new ideas. Players get shipped out.

We have very good owners now. Our manager is great too. The team looks good. Our rivalry actually means something for first time in a long time. I don't get why you're stuck on "all you're players are ****e" when you know that that can't possibly be true.

Torres is gone now and with the money we’ve raised from selling him and Ryan Babel we’ve signed two quality centre forwards in Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. That’s very shrewd business by Kenny Dalglish. I’ve always been a massive fan of Carroll who is the best up and coming young striker in this country. He’s made huge strides in a short period of time. He’s like a better version of Duncan Ferguson who was a terrific player. He’s excellent in the air, has a good touch and plays with a lot of passion. When he made his England debut against France I thought he was terrific and Liverpool have got a great prospect. He’s proved his quality over the past year and has changed more games single-handedly for Newcastle in that time than Torres did for Liverpool. People have questioned the price tag of £35million. In essence, there's not a lot I don't agree with in that excerpt really. The shrewd business is bollocks, this was a textbook panic buy. But, we did get Suarez out of the whole drama, so by your logic, if we really are a one man team, and he can make us first in the table, then we did well right? Anyway, what does it matter now
