ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I'd agree with that assessment, but I'd take out the "only". The fact that you don't seem to see how good Coutinho is really eye opening.

Yeah again that cos there are three work horses around him snapping at players, ok i forgot about Coutinho, that says alot

Obviously they've sold some players but... this is what they've spent..

Daniel Sturridge £12,000,000 9/10 but still a moaner (questionable attitude)
Simon Mignolet £10,000,000 8.5/10 good keeper so not really a gamble to replace the fast fading Reina
Philippe Coutinho £8,500,000 8/10 shows promise, looks a decent deal on an unknown quantity..
Mamadou Sakho £13,000,000 7/10 not bad
Kolo Toure Free 7/10 not bad, some injuries

Oussama Assaidi £2,300,000 who knows - obviously Stoke do - so maybe 3/10?
Joe Allen £15,000,000 2/10 if I'm being generous
Fabio Borini £10,000,000 2/10 I am being generous

£22M worth of heaven knows what!

Luis Alberto £6,800,000 who knows?
Samed Yesil £1,000,000 who knows?
Iago Aspas £7,000,000 who knows?
Tiago Ilori £7,000,000 who knows?

So £93M odd gets you about 3 good players..and a large wage bill.

Plus there is the Andy Carroll legacy.

£35 million.

Coutinho is ok but he really isn't that great, ok there's more to football than cold stats but I honestly don't get the hype with this guy. He's better than Lucas and Henderson though.

What's eye opening is that you don't seem to realise that without Suarez you'd be sitting in around 10th place. I know you're deluding yourself into thinking that you're not a one man team (and you really are btw, more so than even Spurs last season) but your midfielders are simply not very good.

This will definitely get proven today, long balls wont be effective against Kiompany and Lescott. Get your xmas money on City to win, a bargain 4/5.

It is mate, yes.
I understand that rival fans tend to see the world with blue spectacles (and us with red), but that was one of the most one sided demolitions you'll ever see. From memory there were over 60 passes in the attacking final third and about 85% passing accuracy overall. Spurs didn't have a single shot. Hoofball?

Henderson got man of the match. And Allen was massive in that game. Sterling tormented Naughton for 45 minutes, the poor lad. Coutinho was quiet but his presence is enough to give Suarez space. And you know the result.

8th place (behind Man U on Goal Difference) without Swarez's goals and Everton level with Arsenal at the top if that were the case.. No wonder they are chucking 10 mil a year his way.

I would agree with this is it was against spurs today, AVB also played his role in this demolition

Its not that AVB hasn't got form for alienating players and leading to a quite spectacular implosion is it though?

Spurs defeated themselves more than anything.

Yeah. Not only did he cost them £35 million plus all that money in wages. They sold him for a fraction of that and had to pay him £1million to leave.

Great business.
I don't think any fan would say that Carroll was anything but a debacle. However, he wasn't on massive wages, and we got a tidy fee for him(Brendan did), and we picked up Suarez for an absolute steal in that window. And the Torres money financed the purchase. I recall people at the time saying that City picked up Aguero for a similar amount to Carroll. That's true, but we couldn't have landed him, and his wages were about 4 times what Carroll's were, so we're not comparing apples with apples.

Most importantly, this was not under Brendan's tenure, so what else needs to be said?

£80 000 p/w is a huge amount, more than our highest earner.
