Andy Van der Meyde - The Lost Years

We'd all be pleased with getting a late equaliser but they mugged us.

Lets not do the scapegoat thing, Everton played really well there and with a better striker up front would have won it.

chico i'm not usually in the camp to focus blame on one person, but you have to admit some decisions moyes made were a bit strange.

the minute neville started limping he should have been pulled off. jagielka up front at the end of the game??? i usually get frustrated when moyes leaves substitutions till really really late, but this time it seemed particularly frustrating.

Don't call me crazy but I was thinking about the lack of strikers and 1 name just entered my mind and the more i think the more it makes sense

fellaini is 6' 4, excellent header of the ball, good close control and can shoot from anywhere so I think he'd be well worth giving a go at least

Yeah I was happy, I was happy because we had gotten out of jail, and those mistakes had been eradicated, but it would have still been 2 points dropped, as it happened it was just [Poor language removed] typical that Lescott had did his utmost to rescue shoddy mistakes, only for 1 more mistake to occur.

Oh well, what else can he do?

I thought Moyes didnt really have a lot of options did he, the team was playing well and looking like the only ones that could score. If we had a proven striker on the bench then maybe he would have made the change earlier. He played a risky hand by putting all hands to pump, he did try and shake it up.

We lost due to silly mistakes and just pure bad luck. The team are playing well though, the points will follow.

To get into the uafa i would say we need 30 points at the half way point of the season, with the games coming up i dont think we will get there. thats going of getting over 60 points at the end of the season. which has been the target in previous seasons.

Ok the back story to AVDM is, he was awesome at Ajax, lost his way at Inter, but he was still a talent. We signed him without really checking into his off field credentials. Now this brings me to my first point about Moyes. He can't nurture talent, he can't sort players out off field. Unlike Alex Ferguson who is a master at it, Moyes doesn't seem to have a clue.

So why spend £3m???

Right, so he doesn't play him, and rightly so, but then he also makes no attempt to address the situation, to get to the root of the problem.

This season he is given the No.7 jersey. Now in my book that is prestigious and would be a clear signal of intent. Now I have not heard of any reports of off the field antics. He hasn't been seriously injured. So what the [Poor language removed] is going on?

Now I have kept a close eye on the reserve team, and hardly a sign of AVDM playing there. Now he is on the bench and given 5 minutes to make a difference. In my book I thought he looked lively, but then 5 minutes is hardly enough time for anyone to pass judgement on a players career.

So my second point about Moyes is this. How can he consider playing a guy for 5 minutes when he has hardly played all season??? He may as well have brought on Kissock. But then I thought maybe Moyes still rates VDM and reckons he could have made an impact. So why bring him on with 5 minutes to go? Why not play him in the reserves to bring his fitness up? Why?

I tell you why. Because hasn't got a [Poor language removed] clue and will not change from his eleven unless he is backed into a corner and he has no other option.

5 more years lads. Woo hoo!

there no pleasing you , going by all that.

moyes is damned if he didnt buy a player , damned when he does (vdm didnt come with a crystal ball which would say he would be injured for almost 3 years) .
he is also damned for not playing vdm , but then damned if he does aswell.

as for moyes subs , well they got us back into the game.

lastly giving a player who's been out with a long term injury 5 minutes is surely more sensible than bringing him on for 20 minutes and risking him breaking down and leaving us a man short for a sustained period ?

Yeah but he wasn't match fit. he doesnt play for any side. The other lads do and deserve a chance. But we were losing from the 65th minute I think, and it took Moyes 20 minutes to make a change, and then we started to play. Imagine if he made the change earlier.

to be fair the one sub moyes changed which really raised my eyebrows was when baines came on , and jags got pushed forward.

bringing baines on was right , but i would have pushed lescott upfront rather than jags.

ps , when the game restarted after our second equaliser , did anyone notice if jags went back to defence or wether he stayed upfeild ?

I think he stayed up field, but that's down to the manager to communicate what he wanted.

He leaves it too late all the time Moyes, it was like he was going to be happy with a point, well I wouldn't. I wanted all three and I think Moyes again has let the fans down, yet he won't admit it would he?

Sorry Ive skipped a couple of pages, just going back to the very first point.

VDM obv hasnt been playing this season because hes been injured. If Moyes had a fit/sober VDM he would AT LEAST be on the bench every game. Hes one of the best, if not THE best, player we've got. We just havent seen it since hes been here.

Hopefully this will be the final turning point and he can go out with a bang next summer.

Well he has been off the injured list on the OS and on PhysioRoom for about two months, but he's not been seen on the reserves or the senior subs bench. That is more or a less a fact. So what the [Poor language removed]? Something is going on. Guaranteed if we had Yak, Saha and Vaughan, VDM would be no where near the bench.
