they all seem great to me, get a creative nano for daughter a couple of years back, no mp4 but holds a decent amount af tracks and the newer ones hold a lot more.
depends what you want to spend i suppose, but if i was to get a new one now i dont think i would look past the creative range as pricewise/ feature wise they seem to blow the others out of sight. if it was for movies i think i'd go for 1 of the archos ones as have seen a few different media players and the pic etc on the archos seemed bob-on.

mp3 players are like mobiles/printers/laptops etc etc .......too much choice basically, the more you look the less your mind is made up

Nokia N95 8gb

I have one of these and it sucks. It converts mp3's in to .aac format which is great but you can't copy the tracks back to your pc or bluetooth them around except to other Sonys.

I've had LOTS of mp3 players over the years.
I'm currently on my 2nd Microsoft Zune 80gb which is absolutely awesome but needs software (that is windows only) to be installed on any pc wanting to interact with the Zune. You can copy tracks to any pc and that though and the actual Zune windows software is probably some of the best software I've EVER used (I work in IT).

But the Zune is not the best mp3 player out there. By a country mile the best mp3(and all media) players are made by Archos.
I love Archos and after I get a head unit for my car that will accept my Zune, I'll leave the Zune in the car and buy another Archos.

Archos basically work like a portable harddrive and are usb2 with no software required. Just plug it in, it pops up as a portable drive and you can drag and drop away. You can also play by folder etc so you don't need to religiously mp3tag your mp3's so they sort properly on your player (which is a MAJOR ballache on most new mp3 players).

Read the reviews. Get an Archos. DON'T BUY AN iPOD, THEY ARE [Poor language removed].

Its the best phone I've ever had, I've transferred many songs between the phone and pc and bluetoothed them to many devices. The sound quality is brilliant, even when playing out of the loudspeaker. The camera is great. The inbuilt wireless receiver is quality, sat nav, the lot.

I've also got the 30GB Ipod which I've had for 2 years now and its been quality, not had a single problem other than Itunes really slows the computer

Anything but an ipod. Apple doesnt let you transfer music from your ipod to your PC.

A conventional mp3 player allows that. I got a Samsung T10 and its alright.

Yeah it does, you just need iTunes, and iTunes is [Poor language removed] boss - Genius and all.
