My Football Diary

I woke up in my girlfriends bed at 8am, she was in work at 8:30 and she was having turbo problems on her car so she needed me to take her over to work. I dropped her off and told her I will pick her up from work at 1:30 in a taxi. I arrived home and my Dad was getting up. Now, for the last 2 weeks he's been telling me he will come down to the ground, have a pint whilst the match is on and enjoy his day around the stadium. The idea of the retro theme sparked up his interest in today. My Dad followed Everton from the 50's right up to around 1989 when he stopped going the game full time. He's 65 now and on a stick as he has arthiritis in his knee. The first thing he said to me today was "Mike, I might leave it today" I said "why?" He relied "There's a good day of racing on today" I said back "you've been looking forward to this for weeks, don't let me down" he agreed to have a think about it and eventually said he will go.

I phoned a taxi at 1:30 and collected my girl from work, we made our way to the stadium and got out by crofts social club. We walked up to the Park End and on the way my Dad got talking to someone outside the main stand, we continued onwards afterwards and got into the fan zone to listen to the live band and to see what was going on. My Dad stayed there for fifteen minutes before saying "I'm gonna go down the Oak, I'll meet you there after the game"
"But you've only just got here" I said
"I know but it's a bit too packed for my liking" he relied.
He set off towards the Royal Oak and it was me and my bird standing there. "Do you want to go the shop?" I asked
"Yes ok" she replied
We walked to the shop down Goodison road and bought a bottle of water each. We walked towards our entrance into Gwladys street and watched the remaining 10 minutes of the Newcastle game on the screen.

It felt great to be back inside Goodison Park, I love it so much. During the game I looked around the stadium and I could not see an empty seat. This was brilliant. The atmosphere was there at intervals and when it was there it was Loud. A nice early goal from Kevin Mirallas got us going but was cancelled out in the first half by Hull's equaliser. Steven Pienaar made an instant impact second half and quickly had us all singing "I am the music man I come from far away what can you play, I play the Pienaar!" The match finished 2-1 with a good performance from both teams, more surprisingly by Hull who look a team that can stay up this season. The match finished and I advised my girlfriend to hang fire in the seats. "Let the traffic die down" I said.

We started to make our way to the Royal Oak were we met familiar faces and found my Dad sat in the corner talking to random strangers. He told me he'd had a great day in the pub talkin to people and I introduced him to a few lads I know from the away trips. I had a can of coke and my bird had a shady whilst he was drinking his bitter.

We made our way home, my girlfriends mum picked us up in the car and myself and my bird were very hungry. We got out of her mum's car and jumped into mine before embarking on a trip to the seven stars in Eccleston for our tea. We arrived and the car park was packed. "I'll park it here" I said, driving towards a narrow space that simply wasn't for parking. "Come on" she said "we'll find somewhere else." We drove on and ended up outside Pizza Hut. "Pizza hut?" I suggested. "No" was the reply. I shook my head and thought I will never eat tonight at this rate. I could feel my body eating itself and I knew I needed food immediately, the pains in my stomach became excruciating. I found a pub further along the way called the bulldog, I parked up and we went in. "Excuse me, do you sell food?" I asked the bar maid. "Sorry we stopped serving 5 minutes ago" I turned around and walked straight back out, we drove through Warrington and I was getting worried. "Why couldn't we just go to Pizza Hut?" I wondered.

Eventually I found the east lancs and decided on going to the lynewood in Haydock. We arrived and had to wait 15 minutes to be seated, once seated we ordered our meals and I had a quick browse on GOT before eating hunters chicken and 4 pieces of garlic bread. We made our way home and got into bed just after 9pm where we watched an episode of Breaking Bad before the commencement of Match Of The Day.

Not the greatest story this week lads but it is what it is and I can't deprecate from the facts.

Any questions on anything I may have missed?
