We're going to look like geniuses in 3 years when you lot are wondering why the [Poor language removed] we spent £5m on him and hoping it's possible to get £1m back for him from Leicester or somesuch.

I dont get people writing off players and calling them awful when they havent even really played. Players need time to settle in and others dont. Just would be nice to give our own players time before writing them off.

I remember Jags, Baines, Distin (who was nicknamed dustbin by some) all taking time to bed in.

I just don't think he's good enough for Everton Michael, and no one has shown me any evidence to the contrary.

Jagielka took time to bed in because he was played at right back and in midfield. Baines couldn't get in because our back line was settled. As soon as he played, he looked good. Distin I seem to remember being pretty solid from the beginning.

This is true, but the difference being, that those 3 were highly rated by most for their performances at their previous clubs.

Kone was seen as being largely meh at Wigan by most Blues & the simple truth is, that in his first few Everton appearances he's looked gash. So people are therefore going to label him as such.

If he ends up leaving people with egg on their faces then great, as that'll mean he'll have done well for us, but I'm not holding my breath...

Thats the thing with memories sometimes they get blurred by all the sex, drugs and pasties. Distin in particular got a lot of stick.

He may be poor, but until I've seen him have a few minutes on the pitch I'm going to reserve judgement. He wasn't a bad player at Wigan in a poor side and he tore us to shreds a few times last year, I'm hopeful he could be a handy player to have round.

See, I've got no problem with people wanting to reserve judgement on him until they've seen a bit more. That is entirely their prerogative.

I take exception to being called an idiot because I've made a judgement on what I've seen. Not by you, but by quite a few people in this thread. Surely it's my right to judge as and when I please?

This.

but then I look at Sevilla

Surely it would be better to ask wigan fans than base our opinions from fans who probably only seen him play half a dozen time if that. i remember being sat in the away end at the DW watching him destroy us.

It's your god given right mate, I just don't get it- particularly new signings look to make a name for themselves. Writing them off before they've even had a chance isn't in me- unless we sign Titus Bramble.

...like others, I want to give this lad a chance and feel its much too early for an informed opinion. I'm hopeful he will have a part to play and be a valuable acquisition. A Wigan season ticket holder I know says he's very much hit and miss. He can be unbelievable one day and can't hit a barn door another. Just hope he has more good than bad days in a blue shirt.

Thanks Mickers. Can you please ban anyone that has called me an idiot for exercising my God given right?

Most of the Wigan fans I've seen comment on him said he had the touch of a rapist & wasn't good enough for a top level PL side.

He wasn't that great for Wigan imo and can't get on the pitch now. It's not writing him off, it's looking at the reality of the situation.

I hope he comes good, makes no sense for me not to. But this debate on "writing him off," I mean, who cares? His play will dictate whether he's a success or not. Everything else is just a bunch of guys on the internet arguing about something they can't possibly predict with any measure of success.
