We played pretty well. It's the third game in a row where we've looked awesome in the first half and anonymous after the interval though. Perhaps it's because Lukaku and Barkley are setting the tempo and neither has learned how to properly pace themselves for 90 minutes yet?

For the City goals I don't think that we pressured the man in possession enough. Jags could have closed down Yaya to cut off the ball inside Coleman for Negredo's goal and we could have done more to stop Silva's pass into Aguero for their second.

I'm not seeing enough from McCarthy at the moment. Apart from his sliding tackle to deny a shot once Seamus had been beaten I don't remember him doing too much else. Deulofeu and Kone offered nothing when they came on.

It was good to see Roberto switching Naismith to try and offer our rightback more protection against the overlapping runs of Kolarov, but the Scot wasn't as effective at protecting his fullback as I'd anticipated.

I'm more disappointed with the ref than the performance really.

Mccarthy is a great player mate.

When in possession he gives the ball with ease short-mid range passes and doesnt lose it. Thats key in the way we are setup to play. Little dinks forward into channels for coleman and mirallas but generally precision to feet passes keeping the play ticking over.

When not in possession he harries the opponent and jostles them over and over with high energy. Doesnt go to ground either
and so you either have to beat him 1-1 or pass around him.

Reminds me a bit of the midfielder juventus had a few years ago when they won the scudetto.

lolol.

had to miss this one bar 15 minutes of radio courage. Anyone be so kind to summarise?

Went ahead via lukaku, city cut through osman like a knife through butter...barkley and lukaku were knackered early and mirallas carrying an injury I think...city had loads of chances but aguero missed a load...ref was dire and dished out loads of cards for nothing when city should have had 1 or 2 players off and a pen awarded he decides to give them a pen for a soft coleman touch in the box.

Better ref couls have been a draw but city good value...missed barry as osman was awol.

I'm sure that he's a bright lad with a great attitude but I've hardly seen any hints of why we paid £12m for him so far. Too often we left their midfielders with time and space on the edge of our box. He could have closed them down a lot more quickly.

I don't really buy the 'he plays it simple' line. What would be the alternative?! For him to try and take everyone on by himself or to attempt Hollywood passes that end up in row Z? If he can't find a teammate 10 yards away he shouldn't be a professional footballer.

Midfield was where we lost the game, barkley ended up being crowded out of the game by fernandinho and toure who then attacked through osman....mccarthy was given a bit of space and played very well but*those two just were too powerful and osman is past his best to be kind.

No mate, the ref killed our buzz. Before that our midfield was doing perfectly well. Barkley was less influential than normal but we were against a quality team who've spend over £150m on that midfield.

The game started well, early goal 1-0 and we were playing good football, nice 1 touch passing, possession was slightly in our favour but City stepped it up and once Negredo scored they started to play beautiful football that most teams would've struggled against. They opened us up at the back with ease and before we knew it it was 3-1. We wasn't terrible, we just were outclassed by a quality side. We played nice football, Steven Naismith had a good game, Barkley was good going forward but the game looked a bit quick for him sometimes when City had the ball. McCarthy was great, he fought for every ball and was always involved in winning possession and passing the ball off. I don't know if it was a penalty or not but from where I was it looked so, Howard was unlucky with that, their second goal I don't think anyone was stopping Aguero, he was quality. David Silva was also quality. Unlucky Everton, City proved they are a lot better than us today and a lot fitter. Deulofeu needs time, he's nowhere near ready and he's got to keep learning. Can't think of anything else to say except the best team won.

Oh yea, and the referee was a massive bell. Don't get me started on him.
