Deleted it :)

you never deleted my 'joke infraction' what are the grey ones on the rep ?

It shows just how much luck is involved. We've taken 9 points and probably didn't deserve more than five. But, that's how football works. Get the rub of the green and confidence shoots up markedly. I'm confident that we've turned the corner now. Okay, we're not world-beaters but we'll do enough this season to hustle our way into Europe. FACT!

Oh yeah, and the Boro game will be my first game of the season. So we'd better beat the bastards. Upper Bullens, here I come! b)

Having seen the bare highlights that was MOTD, cannot quite agree with the thread opener.

For a start Osman was damn lucky to get away with the hand ball, it should have been a pen for WHU. In those opening minutes with better finishing we could have been down 2/3 goals our defending was so poor. Time and again Lescott drifted into the centre of the box this was so evident with the Hammers goal but he could not get onto the striker. Where was Jags? He was lost out in the midfield and left Yobo hopelessly exposed while he jogged back. The defence was awful in the first half and flukely held on. Some of Lescott's passing from his LB position was terrible. It was of course not until near the end when we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

If you want to see how football can be played, anyone watch Arsenals goal, about 20 passes from man to man, all on the ground and we can't do that???

This game was on a knife edge and we were facing defeat because of the tactics not the players.

Having had a rant, at the end of the season it will be the 3 points that count and the 2 goal difference in our favour.

Well it depends on your intention mate, i wouldnt disagree with Moyes tactics away from home keeping it tight and containing the home team.

It has to be said that his changes won us the game when we went 1-0 down.

Forced changes though.

No chance was Vaughan coming on, especially at that stage if they never scored. Sometimes I would like to see Moyes take the initiative a bit more.

I got an infaction from the monster too. Bad Nazi him la.

I think whats bothering people Neiler is that we're playing awful, dont get me wrong its great that we've learned to defend again and pick up points but when we have the ball (as Bruce mentioned) we struggle to string any sort of cohesive move together. As G-man said we were missing Pienaar and Fellaini yesterday which didnt help but even with them we were largely poor against Bolton and Fulham. I think after the [Poor language removed] start we've had this year and getting dumped out of the cups that everybody is just scared that the mini revolution in the past few weeks might be a false dawn, lets hope not.

One thing that didnt get enough credit from yesterday was Moyes tactics. Once again everybody goes mad at him not playing the right system or being adventurous enough with his subs but he played a superb hand yesterday when we went one down.

Lets face it we are playing awful and winning, clearly we all want to win and win well, but i will take just winning for now, then hopefully the playing will come. I dont care if we play crap all season and win. You get 3 points for a shitty win, you get 3 points for a good win, thats all that matters in the end.

Long may it continue.

How did we contain them? We got battered for almost the entire first half and for long periods of the second. We didn't even defend well, it was exactly the same as the past however many games, but ever so slightly better. West Ham just weren't good enough to score goals, we never looked comfortable. If it weren't for the last ten minutes we'd all be miserable, but we scored 3 goals in that last ten so we're not. What's satisfying for me is how often we've scored goals this season just because we have good players. Yesterday Louis just rolled in and with an assist and a couple of goals, the last one I can't think of any other player in our squad even shooting from there. Remember the Chelsea game where we lost 3-2 to three bullshit Chelsea goals? I still can't believe we lost that, but we did just because they have stupidly good players. We have a bit of that now and I like it.

I still think we have to be happy with our away points this season, there is no way we'll be [Poor language removed] at Goodison forever, so we've got a good lot of difficult points in the bag.

i have to agree. id rather play [Poor language removed] and win then playing awesome but losing

I recall a time of ground out 1-0 wins that were all about order and fitness out on the pitch.

we finished fourth that season.

I remember it fondly.

give me the remaining 26 league games of this season all 1 - 0 wins to us, and I will show you the premier league winners bringing the premiership trophy to goodison.

do good results bring confidence and the enthusiasm to try for that bit more spectacular? or should we say bollocks to defending and go for the all out attack? I recall a newcastle side giving that a go and it all going tits-up. 'lovin' what exactly?

lets just accept a few wins for now, because only a couple of weeks ago it was all talk of not having won enough and manure being on the horizon and how we were going to get absolutely slaughtered.

one last thing, Fellaini settling in and getting used to the language.

Arteta "Marouane looks happy. He's scored a few goals as well which was important to get confidence and get the fans right behind him. He's a nice guy and I think he's enjoying it here. We try to do the best we can. But sometimes we can't keep speaking French to him because that happened to me when I first went to Glasgow Rangers and you can't improve.

I say to Marouane and Castillo all the time, even if you say it wrong just try to say something. The lads, the fans, the Club - they will appreciate every word you try to say. They're getting better and they're trying." (14/11/08)

someone on here made that repeated point a few times. fancy that.

I don't think anyone is saying that to be honest.

I just want some ball retention and for us to actually look like a football team. Keep the ball, retain possession and we'll be a much better side.

I care about the way we play to be honest, even if where winning.

I care about the way we play as well.

But i'd care a lot more if we were turning on the glossy stuff in the championship instead of the premierleague.

We are a side in transition again, yes the forward steps we have made have been a lot of fun, but they are tempered with the backwards step of acclimatisation. Moyes is in for another 5 years, lets see if we can make it top ten finishes for three seasons consecutively for the first time in our prem history.

Evertonians in settling for 2nd best shocker.
