Transfer Window Assessment

It's not 3 million wasted, I see it as an investment as it could be his goals that fire us into Europe or to a cup win

What really exciting news to wake up to. It's a good loan deal at £3m because what would his full value to buy him at the moment? In this toppy market? £25m probably. £3m for a year is good, and provides loads of hope for some firepower to finish chances created.

These loan deals are good and smart. The USA likely to begin its Quantitative Easing taper soon (reducing new money printing from the $80 billion per month they've been printing for ages) and I'm thinking that will have an affect on world markets, including UK/Euro player valuations. Buy at better value in the future, rather than now.

The ONLY hope I had for this window was to sign QUALITY young players with high potential. We signed James McCarthy who was obviously the first choice, other than him I cant see any value beyond this season.

Most of the signings smack of short termism

Perhaps, though its important to note what clubs we have signed these loan players off.

Barcelona have Messi, Neymar, Iniesta and Pedro amongst their options up front and have the money to go and buy almost anyone they want. Even if he has an absolutely storming time with us, Deulofeu will have to be lucky to get into their first team squad next season. Chelsea are almost certain to buy a boss centre forward over the next 12 months, and Mou has a way of playing that means he only needs two or three centre forwards. Chelsea have also loaned out one of their most promising players (Courtois) to the same club for three seasons in a row now.

Martinez has already said that should Deulofeu go well, we can retain him next season.

Another thing to consider from these signings is that it gives RM some time to get a handle on the squad and the players he really wants to bring in. It may also be an advantage for next summer if these signings help the team get into Europe and the quality of player we can sign next summer will also improve.

But overall a young player like Mccarthy to pair up with Barkley, good foundation for the future. A Striker who can net 15-20. No complaints from me.

Another added bonus is that there isn't much left to take from Wigan so RM is definitely going to have to extend his vision a bit.

but we now have 6 centre backs, 6 salaries and also this new guy is injury prone and would have signing on and agent fees also

But apparently money isn't an issue for us Zat, we had a negative net spend, millions in the negative in fact, so there's no problem spending all this cash on wages and agents fees, we still had plenty more to spend. Right Bill???

We're the only club in the league to not have a negative net spend, we won't see that money again and the club will still say our debts are rising. 3 of the squad are on loan, we sound like a debt ridden Spanish club. Our current business model cannot carry on the way it is, we will not progress without investment, the board have played a blinder for themselves spinning it and our fans have fell hook, line and sinker for it.
We're all gushing over how much we got for selling our best midfielder, we won't be seeing the benefit from it. That is the type of club this board have turned us into IMO.

Been reading the last few pages and just have to say Zat, that while it would've been nice to shift players like Heitinga and gueye but there most likely wasn't any buyers. Heitinga is on high wages and seems content to run down is contract so he'd always be hard to sell. I agree sometimes deadweight needs to be shifted but you need interested parties as well.

As good a window as we could have hoped for I think. Getting £6m for Vic was unexpected. Does anyone know how much we're paying for the loan deals?

We have a net spend this window of minus £11 million.

Can the loanees play against their parents do we know?
