Same old, same old. We've been 'expecting an improved Utd bid' for weeks now. By the sounds of it, that will be turned down again as well. This is different than Lescott/Arteta/Rodwell. The club know another departure to Utd of all clubs won't go down well.

As long as Baines doesn't suddenly want out, we may just ride this one out.

What he f*** do they mean by "Everton are prepared for a second bid from Manchester United for their left-back Leighton Baines"?? We making sure the fax machine is plugged in or what? Hiring a guy to stand and watch it to make sure it doesn't break down?

Moyes has been linked with allsorts in the press but as yet hasn't signed anyone. 10 million offer for Baines, then taking an age to lodge "an improved 12 million"??

Maybe they haven't got all that much to spend after all?

I'd find it particularly funny if after all these years of working on a tight budget here, he goes to Old Trafford fully expecting an open cheque book, but actually finds the Glazer's have locked it up and thrown away the key.

Everton could end all this now if they went public and offered him a new improved contract.....

Last year, Moyes said we are a club that only sells for a high price.
And that if anyone wants Baines, they'll have to pay handsomely.
Fast forward a year, he wants to buy Baines for a handful of buttons and colourful beads.

I hope so mate, I think Leighton is a sound lad & it'd be refreshing if he came out & said he was happy to stay & commit to a long term deal. However, my fear from the off is that Moyes has already sounded him out about whether he fancies it or not before placing a bid at all.

I wonder how we're "preparing for a bid". Are we leaving instructions with the secretary to say that Elstone's "in a meeting and can't be disturbed"? Secretly changing our phone number? Placing sharpshooters on guard at Finch Farm, with instructions to open fire on Moyes, Round or anyone else who's just joined Man U?
