If you're gonna rep, give a name yeah? He can answer back if he wants to. Will just come across as arrogant as usual though.

I think like most other people here I would prefer the £5m spent on someone younger. It's not out of the realms of possibility that Kone will have a couple of good seasons for us but it doesn't feel like an Everton buy. P.S. I remember seeing him play for Wigan at the start of the season and thinking how poor a footballer he was. Did well with his pace and effort to notch 11 goals but that is his ceiling really I think. It could make a short-term contribution for us but this move feels for want of a better word 'lazy'.

On a related note I fell Jelavic certainly has the potential to come back into form this season. He started alright last year with 6 goals from the first 15 games but then tailed off considerably in all areas. Post 9/12 he only started 11 pl games and scored 1 goal. I think this followed a weird collision of some sort against the post (can't remember the game). Combined with a euro's hangover perhaps and the continuous drop in form and confidence, he certainly had a 6 month spell to forget. Hopefully Martinez signing his 'mate' doesn't hinder any prospect of a Jelavic revival.

12/13 PL stats comparison:

Jelavic: Played 26(11), Goals 7. 347 mins per goal.
Kone: Played 32(2), Goals 11. 266 mins per goal.

Also, here is something that may calm a few people. A few rumors doing the rounds on twitter (yes i know, i should stop right here but may as well post it) that the fee is 2 million up front with it rising to 5 depending on how many he scores. Does that please a few people?

Depending on the fine detail of how many he has to score to trigger the extra payments, it could work for me. That COULD make it a fantastic deal...

Baines = 18mill
Fellaini = 20+mill
Barkley =15+mill
Coleman =10+mill
Mirallas =10+mill

I think we've plenty of sellable assets to not worry about the age of the squad or players for resale.

Despite the fact that you've just posted proof to the contrary?

Find me another Mirallas for £10m, or another Coleman for less than £8m, or another Baines for less than £15m.

Selling those three would generate you enough funds to buy their replacements only.

If its £2m upfront then it really is a complete no-brainer. Plus it means there really should be more exciting names to come.

So who will announce this first tomorrow as a done deal, Dave Whelan or the Everton OS? :lol: :lol:

He's got pace which will be refreshing. Heitinga's still probably having nightmares about him

I remember Benteke single-handedly destroying Heitinga at Goodison Park, but did Kone as well? Don't recall that..

Has this 2m up front come from a reliable source?

nah, just the post 2 above mine. I do think it will be a structured deal though. A few have mentioned that he has pace, which I've never really noticed. Are we talking rapid?
