Kone Signs on 3 Year Deal

Mate, you're the one proclaiming Kone to be a good buy and he's going to turn out exactly like all of the above you listed.

Steady enough, will contribute around 10 goals and do a job for the team.

I am saying its hard to get a boss striker for the 5m we have got Kone for, I think we have signed a good not boss striker

Just look at Moyes efforts and he spent more than 5m on 4 of those above

People on here making out we could do so much better for the fee paid, Well I ask who?

Del, we're all really enjoying you starting arguments with imaginary opponents and then somehow losing them, but please, before you bring home the tragic failure of the British education system to us all, shut the **** up.

Ok Mate x

Jelavic is ****e.

Kone is an upgrade.

This makes me happy.

But then again, I diont subscribe to FM and therefore aren't knocking myself out over not being able to get young Carlos Kickaball from Obscure FC who'll get us *defo* 20 goals per season and have a sell on value of £25M.

Yeah call me crazy, but I'm sort of up for someone who will score actual goals for us NOW.

Someone will say Michu. I agree with you mate. Good addition, could be ace, you never know with the better service he will get.

how many games have we played under our new manager?

how many of them have we lost?

how many clear cut chances did that aging useless striker we got from Wigan miss?

how many of the goals we've conceded were the fault of the gash freebie centre half?

well??
What a strange post! Everyone will have an opinion on whether the rate, or not, incoming players and managers based on various different things. That's always happened and always will.

some very selective memories going on at the moment. Moyes never spent money on average players???? I seem to remember a demand from most fans for decent strength in depth. How was this going to happen without signings like this one? Some fans were crying out for money to be spent but now are demanding we shouldn't be spending any money on a striker, first choice or not. Kone is not being bought, if he is, for the long term future, we may have young strikers in the ranks that are good enough and effect how we handle the market in terms of young players coming in. He would need to have a good look at the squad below the first team before bringing younger players in, and if they are for the future then that makes sense. Kone can in the meantime provide a proven option up front. a few million for an established international for probably the best team in Africa is not overpriced. If we spent massive amounts then the moans would have started about who was leaving. If he isn't first choice Kone can provide cover up front or wide mid. decent signing, not our last, but depth and proven quality has been provided for positions in need of that. and for those of you who love that kind of thing, if he proves disastrous then he has enough of a proven record that we will sell him for decent money

I think people just see it as an uninspiring signing. You wouldn't see any of our rivals competing with us for this signature because they've got their eyes on better players.

As I've said before, if this is part of a wider recruitment drive and others are coming in then fair enough, but if it come September 1st we're left with a forward line of Jelavic, Anichebe and Kone then I'll be left feeling very underwhelmed. Maybe it'll be because that's the best we can afford, which is fair enough, I just won't expect to replicate our top 6 finish of this year.

this Kone should be giving us a lift.

Can we name the nearest roundabout to Goodison please?

I suggest Kone Island.

we can even shout at the shoite "Warrior, Come Not To Pla-ay"

I believe that those 11" hot-dogs could also be endorsed by him, according to a mate that works at Wigan's Training Ground.

Really? REALLY?

Beattie, Johnston, Yak, Beckford, Saha and Jelavic cost around 40m

Do you think any of those turned out to be good buys honestly?

I think that each of them did a job for us, up to a point. In some cases it could be argued Moyes did not use them right but we got an extremely good season out of Yak and he was on 6 goals in a poor start before the injury. Jelavic's finishing was poor last season but still scored a few and I still have faith that with a bit of confidence early on could easily go on and score a bagful.

Beckford was decent but whatever happened, happened but well worth the very little we paid.

It is also worth pointing out that we made money on all of them except Yak so they somebody thought they did a decent job for us.

I am not saying they were great but considering you have to pay at least £10m-£15m for a run of the mill striker these days we got more or less our moneys worth.

I really just don't see having both kone and jelavic in our squad. Vic is good off the bench, can see a reason to keep him, jelavic was shocking last season and could be potentially 3rd choice, he's not the type to operate from the bench and he's not even a Martinez type striker.

I get the feeling if fellaini is sold, we will buy another striker to go with Vic and kone, with jelavic being shipped out.
