Beckford & Vaughan

Had we not received a very good offer for beckford he may have been a ok super sub to have in the squad. He does now how to score...and perhaps moyes would of kept him for that role had the offer not come in. Mind you turning up late to a cup tie you were down to start in can't of really helped his case with moyes.

I always think tho...if you lose a player to a championship team whilst no other PL teams were seriously interested, well it tells its own story IMO.

You could say the same of Anichebe for years.

That video above...he scored some big goals there. The FA Cup one...the goal against the RS to take us 2-1. The Bolton goal etc.

And remember...we were utter turd in that season and he still bagged 10 odd goals for us.

Seemed to be a bit of a big time Charlie ( with nowt to back it up) don't suppose rolling up late for the Reading cup tie gained him any Brownie points with moyes either

"FFS MOIST WHY NO BECKFORD? ARGH HE SHOULD BE PLAYING THE LAD. RUINING HIS CONFIDENCE MOIST OUT WHY NOT PLAY HIM?"

Because he turned up after kick off.

Beckford only scored one more Premier League goal than Jelavic this season having played the same amount of games. That's not good at all.

It is a bit different because Beckford was signed from a league 1 team for nothing, scored 10 goals in his debut season, playing out of position. Jelavic cost quite a bit and has been very poor this season even though he is a lone striker playing as a lone striker.

Would still swap Anichebe for Vaughan any day of the week.

Never understood why Moyes was prepared to give Anichebe the chance to overcome his injuries and not Vaughan.

1. Never a lone striker.
2. Free.
3. Jumped up two divisions.

10 goals, including a corker at Anfield...all things considered he did really well here, people jumped on his back about that one performance at home to QPR whilst forgetting that the holy combo of Cahill and Saha had both been playing like they had rickets for a solid 18 months.

I do remember thinking that it was the worst individual performance I had ever seen in a blue shirt. I've seen a lot of dross up front as well ( Angel, Spencer, Wayne Carke,)

Beckford is a bad egg, I've heard it said a few times his team mates don't like him, he's got a massive chip on his shoulder and no where near the talent to wear it

If Vaughan gets himself consistently fit for a few seasons he'll be back in the PL no problem. Lids a natural goalscorer and he'd be leading our line but for injuries.

He'd be playing for England too IMO.

The entire team bar Barkley played like a pack of c*nts, make no bones about it, at home to the worst side you could possibly imagine.

I made a bet with the lids in the office that if we won i'd wear a Liverpool top all day, completely confident in the knowledge that it'd never happen.

Always thought he would be Rooney's strikerpartner for England. He has everything - pace, power, knows where the goal is, heading ability etc.

Agree 100%.

More than that he was utterly fearless. He'd be out 6 months, come back, go on as sub and smash someone within five minutes.

One player I would have back. Played with pride, gave everything, even if it was 5 minutes every 6 months, you can tell how much he wants to play football, absolutely loved putting the blue shirt on.

Don't often feel personally gutted about a player's career, but defo feel differently for him, he deserves a better body.
