i think it was insane that he started in what was probably our most important game so far this season when he doesnt get a chance against the **** teams. the whole team selection was a bit crazy really

Does,nt make a lick of differace to me but I think he could be sold in the summer on the basis that other players (existing and new) will continue to keep him out of the team.

Spurs were putting all of our players under severe pressure and we were giving up possession all around the pitch,it wasn't just Barkley.

I thought he gave quite a disciplined performance defensively and gave good protection to his full back,which I reckon was his job description for the day.
I think both David Moyes and Ross Barkley will have been satisfied with his days work. We will see him gets more game time from the bench between now and the end of the season as both Pienaar and Fellaini will come straight back into the team.

At the moment Barkley needs to keep his game simple and effective,with greater experience will come the opportunity to play a more expansive game.

I think he knows all eyes are on him, it's a tremendous amount of pressure to cope with when you are trying to break into the side for anyone never mind a 19yr old who has less than a handful of top flight games under his belt.

He'll come good and he makes mistakes as does any other player. Fans that slaughter him should know better, not many 19yr olds are premiership stalwarts.

When is the right game to start him in?

He needs to know what pressure is like at the highest level for him to progress. He just needs more game time in important games.

He wasn't good. Sure, Spurs were pressuring the midfield, but half the teams in the league will. And a lot of his misplaced passes, he was under no pressure at all.

I'm not down on the guy, but I think expectations should be tempered in the short term.

Tbf Osman Gibson and mirallas were all giving the ball away and conceding possession more than ever yesterday. That has to be down to the quality of the opposistion. So Barkley was playing his first game of the season out of posistion under difficult circumstances... Just think its a good sign that moyes trusted using him from the off.
