From Pundit to Manager?

But would the theory translate on to the pitch in practice?

Also, pundits have the massive benefit of instant replays and every camera angle, managers (like refs) don't have that and have to make snap decisions on one real time viewing.

The amount of times he calls it before the event shows he knows his onions mate. He called every single Mourinho sub before he'd even made it when they played Man Utd. Beats waiting til 70 mins for Naismith in my book. And don't forget he's commentating live as he see'sit.

We're Everton. We Innovate. We don't conform. We never have through our history. It's time again IMO.

* If any of the following take up employment with Everton F.C. then the transaction is null and void....
A.Townsend
S. McClaren
J.Barnes/ J McAteer
any of those in the o.p.

Just to go a little further outside the box...Chiles? Doesn't know much about togger as he regularly demonstrates but probably has loads of showbiz pals like Bleakely who he could parade on matchday like Stallone.

No, it's a rubbish idea on second thoughts.

Chiles has got no background in the game mate. Townsend's won world cups(games) and is there to talk about football. Not introduce links. No point entering the debate if your gonna be ridiculous.

Bet you want mark Hughes!

I don't know anyone who thinks Townsend would make a good anything.
I would rather listen to an infant scream for 90 minutes than listen to his nasal musings.

As this is a serious thread, bring back Fred Dineage from the dead, he presented sports programmes and that show 'How'. Jack Hargreaves could be his assistant, and Jimmy Greaves could do the post match interviews.

Let's not be silly eh mate? Fair enough if you don't agree with the idea (I do), maybe offer up some realistic targets of your own?

I suppose reading this nonsense is more of a laugh than the usual England de-brief. Townsend should shut his hole the man gets right on my very last nerve.

If Gary Neville ever became manager of Everton I would retire from life as an active Everton supporter and take up gardening

Not saying I want it to happen, or he'd be any good - just the fume across the park would be amusing to watch.

this entire thread is popcorntastic, I haven't read anything remotely realistic, why would any pundit give up a warm tv studio and a better pay to work for blue bill?

I don't think Fred's dead mate.

Townsend is a great shout. Not least for the marketing possibilities it will leave us open to. Currently Moyes is trying to increase the marketibility of Everton by appearing more on television. Townsend has this whole section completely wrapped up, when was the last time Moyes trended worldwide on Twitter FFS.

He has an inate ability to describe to the players exactly where they are going wrong, at the very time it's happening, just imagine how many goals we'd score if we stopped hitting it so well, there would be deflections galore, and must be worth at least 2 league places at the end of a season.

The only issue I see with this is the huge wages we would have to find in order to make his employment with us worthwhile for him, though the sale of Fellaini should go someway towards helping with that.

The only question for me is, who do we get in as a number 2 that would compliment his style? It's a really toughie.
