What is the point of Everton?

Fair enough

But why is that a reason to have a go? We can still pull out an exciting game now and then. Not everyone can be the champion, not everyone can have a load of money to spend. I just don't see why he's having a pop. We're not playing overly aggressive or dangerous football, our fans aren't causing trouble, we've got a handful of exciting players. Why have a pop at Everton?

He's not a fan, he hasn't got a stake, he wouldn't care if we were doing well instead. He's just having a go

He is just having a go or are you just not liking what you are reading ? He nails it for me and I make no bones about it, the truth is there its just a case of you wanting to see it and stomach it

Nails it? Behave.

He's never a Blue, I've never heard any Blue who reckons a relegation dogfight or even relegation would be preferable to challenging for a European place. Absolute nads that piece.

Take the last paragraph out and it'd be a fair chunk of blues who would endorse every word.

What, Blues who laugh at the club, mock our chances of success & think we've got no chance of a European place this season? Not the Blues that I associate with Dave, sorry.

No but the overwhelming sentiment taken from this piece quite clearly is " what's the point ?"

Ask Evertonians leaving Goodison after yet another lame whimpering defeat against Wigan in the F.A Cup a few weeks back what they thought after witnessing such a charade and I hazard a guest this line would have been top of the quotes

IMO that piece is patronising, insulting crap, written in a glib manner by some beaut who knows nothing about the passion & pride of our great old club.

The 'what's the point' you're referring to, is a million miles from what he was trying to say imo.

i think that is what he is trying to say, why is our great old club happy with a top 10 finish and the occasional semi final. That's how I read it anyway.

That is exactly the sentiment I took from it. What is the point of being perpetually on the cusp of success if you're sh*t scared of taking the inevitable leap of faith ?
