Speaking of Refs and this "British Inconsistency". Is there an F.A or indeed a FIFA ruling that prohibits referees from other countries officiating in our leagues ? It would help the game immensely, seeing as the actual 'laws' of the game are deemed to be blanketed across Europe. I've heard on many occasions , managers complain that players wouldn't be allowed to get away with this and that if they were abroad or indeed when they play in European competitions.
Duncan Ferguson's header that Collina dismissed, at the time everyone said that an 'English' referee would of let that go, but European refereeing decisions about climbing etc..are seen as different. Of course we all know different now , that a different agenda was in place at the time, but that's for another thread.
If the claim that language and swearing in national tongues would be hard to police, then they only have to look at every international match played.. where the ref and linesmen are from totally different nations as the two teams playing and whose language isn't even a common one. As for the English Premier League. Then yesterday's game would be a prime example of an international melting pot of dialects.. So, the excuse of communication between players and officials would be a mute one at best.
It would be interesting to see how a Bundersleague Ref would of delt with yesterday's shenanigans !
Anyway..just asking
