Liverpool Echo Throws Dummy Out Of Pram

If the pic is 'totally irrelevant" then why have they used that particular one of Distin from the thousands they have...twice in different links?

Think you might be quoting the wrong person Davek. I said it was totally relevant, as in there was nothing slimy about them using a picture of Distin, because the article discusses that event.

Clearly you didn't read the article properly.

You know the point being made though.

Come on Brennan, you're a bright lad. You know what the juxtaposition of image and text was meant to achieve.

It makes a passing reference to that event; but the article isn't about it.

If anything, it should have a picture of the Everton fans, or Prentice himself at a stretch - but not Distin.

Precisely.

Using the troll abuse of Distin as some sort of reason, for the lack of communication & transparency at Goodison in relation to genuine fan concerns, is a shameful piece of spin. The 2 issues are totally seperate & have no place being wrapped up into the same article, bad, bad form this.

I can only conclude that there's been a panic outbreak & in attempting to put out the fire, they've lit a fresh one.

The picture is about the good work distin does cause the article says how he has received abuse and how he doesn't deserve it, so the pic is relevant as its showing the good work he does, no point seeing stuff that ain't there really, yes we are all angry but let's be angry for the right reasons

It's splitting hairs. The article makes reference to a specific event which was met with abuse by a large number of people on Facebook and Twitter, it's probably the most relevant and up to date image they could have posted.

I'll have to tweet 'Prenno' and ask if the board are going to remain silent until the Blue Union ceases its terrorist activities.

This. It was probably somebody down the line who posted the article to the web that was tasked with choosing an image.

No it isn't.

Sam ate an apple in Lord of the Rings - so it's like putting an apple on the front cover of the book/movies.

Or putting a paintbrush on the video cover of Titanic. Or putting a picture of trumpet on the cover of Spiderman. etc. etc.

All of which would be nonsense, obviously. The Echo placed that image as part of a spin exercise blatantly. The context of the piece screams it.

The whole point of the article is to justify the 'siege mentality' at Goodison, in relation to the lack of communication from Elstone etc & a failure to address the questions raised by fans & shareholders alike. They're using the troll abuse of Distin in order to somehow try & justify a lack of transparency from the club, it's a sick piece of spin.

Bullseye.

It looks like cabin fever hit the Oldham Echo offices when they went into lockdown after Collymoregate.

That analogy is incredibly bad.

Or the more likely option, that the article was written and the person in charge of content on the website has chosen a relevant image.

Brennan - no one supports twitter abuse but don,t fall into the trap they set by setting yourself up against your fellow blues.

Can,t you see that underneath the article they WANT to divide the fanbase as there on a hiding to nothing. They are probably monitoring this site right now and doing cartwheels hoping for a sign of a split in the unity.

Don,t give them that opportunity.
