Didier Drogba played for EAD Guingamp when he was 23. Checkmate.

Steven Naismith played for Rangers until he was mid 20s.

I'm 28 nearly, and still play for my local village team.

Not sure the comparison of Dos Santos and Drogba is a very good one, the only comparison is that they're both play football, and that's a loose term.

Di Santo's got a crap goalscoring record for wigan because wigan are awful, fair enough.

How about those 16 games he played for the second best team in the league, chelsea, without scoring?

I think it's a bit harsh to use Di Santo's Chelsea record against him. According to his Wiki page he only made eight appearances and was 18/19 at the time. Forlan couldn't perform at United but ended up becoming one of the world's best players.

I'd never suggest bringing him to Everton as a first-choice striker, but having watched him quite a few times in recent seasons I'd say he's a good enough footballer to make an impact.

As a comparison his league goal record (13 in 83/goal every 6.3 games) is quite similar to Anichebe's (17 in 120/goal every 7.5 games), though I imagine Di Santo probably has more starts to his name despite being twelve months younger. At the same age Jelavic had scored 18 goals in 92 league games, giving him a ratio of one every 5.1 games.

Considering his age I'd take a punt. (Here's where he puts in a performance of Jason Scotland proportions tomorrow and makes a fool of me.)

Franco di Santo will be this years Rodallega.

Go on Martin lad, offer him a contract.
