Osman & Gibson the partnership

I don't think think Gibson is a natural DM, hence the reason we were trying to get fer. I think apart from Fellaini we don't have a natural DM.

Personaly think moyes was/is looking for a full of energy type specialist DM like fer, then you would have Gibson and ossie fighting for the other position next to him. Fellaini ACM for now, but he'll be gone come summer and I'm hopefull well see a marqua signing to play the No.10 role. Hopefully a striker who can play No.10 or up top alone.

Fer isn't a DM mate. I'm sure I read somewhere he'd played a more advanced role than CM earlier on his career

In the season 2008–09, Fer slowly became a first team regular. New Feyenoord coach Gertjan Verbeek often positioned Fer on the central attacking midfielder position behind striker Roy Makaay. On September 18, 2008

Gibson and Fellaini were great together last season, but it wouldn't be a Moyes team without a ten goal-a-season target man, so I imagine things will stay as they are.

It's a perfect match. The ball winner with the ball player & a creator behind the striker - Osman or Barkley

change of tactics as well then. Jags gives it to a midfielder, they put it wide, wide men/full backs then cross it in. I know i'm making it sound alot more simple than it is but with more crosses going in, and Osman maybe slipping more balls in for Jelavic, he may just start scoring again... If he can time a run properly for once

Been saying this for years, he wont change. At least now we play the long ball to someone with a hope of winning it. Seeing punts to Cahill for years because he's good at headers (in completely different situations like corners) was depressing.

When you have a player like Fellaini and don't play him in center mid you might be a rubbish manager. How many players can Moyes fit in the side who are out of position. He loves putting strikers out wide, defenders in midfield, midfielders up front. The man is clueless.

Yep - it's like versatility is worth more than actual ability.

I'm almost convinced Fer was being bought as fellaini's target man replacement, or if not would've ended up there soon enough after the summer.

I'm hoping for a striker too, but that'll just leave a gaping hole at ACM because we'll continue with this rigid system that got us 4th with an incredibly average team until moyes leaves, which im not sure is actually going to happen this summer.

For me gibsons doing his job. Show for the ball and pass it on, sort of dictating the pace of the game. He's not a ball winner and he's not creative. He needs someone next to him to do the dirty work (winning it back)

if hes not the above what exactly is he ????

He's definately not the above he's what I'd describe as the pacemaker/engine room. Very really see him
Create a goal. Very really see him breaking up play. He just shows/recieved/distributes. Same as Carrick at United
