Our style of play?

I worry we may go back to an attrition type of game, just trying to drag out wins like we have done on and off the past 2 seasons or so. It was only the Jan 2012 influx of new blood that began to brighten up our football. Then we were at times spectacular for much of the early part of this season. Now with no fresh blood in this transfer window, injuries, players out of form - Jelly and JH as examples - I wonder if DM will revert to the old cautious style because he couldn't add an extra stymulus to lift the squad.

Mix it up and keep them guessing. I like we play ATM.

Work on defence lapses and crossing. Oh and find someone who wants to punch it in not walk it in and we are looking very good.

i think a lot of it has to do with our right side being mostly missing. as soon as heitinga gets the ball there is no good options so he just goes long. i hate having fellaini behind the striker just because i think we are way too direct when he plays there. thats what play b should be. i would start osman more forward and felli deeper. if that doesnt work then switch them and go more direct

So, in light of the recent goals we've conceded where weaker teams have targeted our left flank and the hole vacated by Baines as he bombs forward, do you think that the upcoming number of difficult fixtures could actually benefit us?

We've opened up to several weaker teams when we pile on the pressure, a danger that most of the top half teams (except for the ****e who hoof it long) incur. We always look more positionally aware when playing the better teams, and when we're settled in defense we are one of the harder teams to break down (as long as we close people down on the flanks). Hopefully Gibson and Mirallas can stay fit for the remainder of the season as Gibson's long range passing will be crucial in turning the play for us and Mirallas speed will put pressure on most teams' right backs.

Yeah, we should definitely play route 1 all the time so we can join the elite teams at the top of world football who also play route 1.

Like Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

we mix it up well. with fellaini's aerial prowess we don't play route one solely, we just aim for him. we do play some great stuff when he's further back though. the difference is when coleman isn't playing right back and instead we have the cultered playing out from the back of jags, johnny and distin.

hopefully the signing of young lad stones will put an end to this

Some of our football this season has been fantastic, I note that when possible Howard now takes short goal kicks so we can build attacks from the back - it's things like that which have benefited us this season - when we're low on confidence we tend to play very direct football which seldom works.

.....I can't see how anybody watching Baines and Pienaar can say we are route one. That left side are like the Harlem Globetrotters at times and the likes of Osman and Fellaini are able to join in. I do think we also go directly from back to front at times. Jagielka in particular plays that long, diagonal ball to Fellaini which can be effective. Generally, I think we mix our approach rather than have a specific style.
