i think you'll get 4th. really rate siggurdsson but think you could have let him go if i'm honest. he's not done the business (not the only midfielder at spurs not to) when given the chance and now you have dempsey and holtby ahead of him in that position and you'll only play that position if you go one up top. can i ask you though, couldn't you do with a backup winger? if bale get's injured for the season you're ****ed really. townsend and rose were the only backups you had for those positions and they're gone

In all seriousness, Bale is so good he can actually play on both wings simultaneously (y)

And we also sent out Falque on loan. Really not sure why we let Townsend go out on loan as well unless we are going to use Siggy as a LW if & when required, or maybe we are planning to resurrect the career of David Bentley......

haha dempsey can play on the left as well i suppose, but none of those replacements are exactly like for like ha - mind you we lack pace even in our first team

What did Moyes say in his press conference about the transfer window? I see it's on the official site, but i dont have EvertonTv so cant watch it.

for real?
because every Dutch media writer, expert and ex players have been saying its been taken out of proportion.
His knee is fine and Everton wanted to change the terms because they coudnt afford the up front lump sum?

Thats the more likely scenario aint it!. I dont think we could afford the whole deal if im honest and thats why we said summat was up with is scar after his medical to try and renegotiate.

Even Fer himself said we tried to change the deal cos of his scar, it was still fresh an could cause problems long term but what aload of bollox!.

The simple fact is we probably coudnt afford him and bit off more than we could chew on that deal. Hopefully in the summer though with the new TV money, we can sign him up cos he's quality and what we need in midfield alongside Gibbo!.

What did Moyes say in his press conference about the transfer window? I see it's on the official site, but i dont have EvertonTv so cant watch it.

Moyes said: "I wouldn't discuss my contract. We are just one day through the window and it's not the right time. But we are concerned we didn't add to the squad because we know we needed something extra.

"It wasn't for the want of trying, though. We didn't go scattergun at the end when we didn't get Leroy Fer but we tried to add some good players who would make a difference to the first team. And, if that didn't happen, we looked at bringing in young players who could be ones for the future and add value. We are disappointed obviously. Fer is a top player and it's a shame it turned out like that, but we are still one of the contenders to be in the top half and in and around the top four."

Moyes believed Everton lacked depth before January but the squad is lighter after the close of the window, with Stones the only addition and Ross Barkley plus Magaye Gueye leaving on loan. "We are short," he added. "We said before the window opened that we're short of what we want and we tried. But it didn't happen and that's the situation we have to deal with. For different reasons it didn't work out but it wasn't for the want of trying. If there is any criticism then maybe we could have tried a little bit earlier."

The Everton manager would not divulge why the club made its big money moves late in the window. "I couldn't quite give you the answer to that," he admitted. "I wouldn't say that [the money wasn't made available until late]."

We stopped looking for targets at 7pm I read on THT's blog.

Then there's the suggestion from Sheeds that someone stepped up with some cash from inside the club for the Fer deal.

Tin hat stuff all you want...But I still think the club didn't have any money. Someone bank rolled it.

I'd go with that scenario, tbh. It seems the only thing that'd fit why the money wasn't there at one stage and there at another....though I'm unconvinced the club were fully behind the loan and tried to push the envelope to a point where if Twente accepted terms, then ok, but if they didn't then that was ok too.

Noticed that all right mate, seems we came into wonga at the end stages, id love to know were the windfall came from - not a question by the way just to dodge a Philip Green tin foil hat moment -(y) !

It came from a 'good friend to the club' I'd wager.
