Why did the club spend 5m on Oviedo?

Looks a good player, in his one start against Norwich did well, but it seems to have sent him further down the pecking order if anything, there are certainly worse players getting more game time than he is

The only ways to get him game time is to drop Pienaar, drop Baines, play him miles out of position, or send Pienaar to the right wing and play Oviedo on the left.

I can understand why Moyes is reluctant to do any of those.

Doubt we'll see much of Oviedo till Baines gets an injury really. Shame cause he's looked decent to me when he's played.

I think he's shown some glimpses, but for the fee we got him on, I don't think anyone expected the finished product so soon. I think he'll be a valuable player for years.

Oviedo did really well coming off the bench against Cheltenham and Newcastle, and I think he should be given a chance before Naismith when Mirallas goes off after five minutes tonight.

Hopefully Saturday was a one-off and Gueye isn't actually ahead of him in the pecking order now.

I think Oviedo is in a learning curve at present.Baines Jagielka and others had to stay out of the team and learn what what was expected of them and the standards they had to reach.
Oviedo is still a young lad and is probably regarded by the club as a long term project,an investment for the future.

Moyes has a habit of playing 'worse' players over ones that fans want to see. Naismith will always be in with a shout of starting and will always be one of the first options off the bench in Moyes' mind. He's a conservative player, won't try anything stupid and won't take risks. I also think he's a bit gash, but Moyes is like that.

I like Oviedo, he has done well considering we only paid a low fee for him and is still quite young.

Hopefully he'll develop into a useful player over the next season or two.
