Surely it's the manager who picks him to play there...it's not like Neville is going to say to Moyes "Sorry gaffer, I don't fancy playing DM because I'm **** there".

Neville is a scapegoat cos he's an old manc with bleached hair. In reality he's captain and moyes first name on the team sheet. With gibson injury prone, then we'll see lots of neville in midfield

Couldnt care less that hes a manc, hes just a very limited footballer, granted hes professional but thats all hes got.

It was reported when Neville first joined Everton that one of the things that decided him was that David Moyes had said that it was an opportunity to PLAY IN MIDFIELD.
That presumably was Moyes' thinking at the time. So there you are.

now that explains a lot - it looks like promises were made by Mr Moyes when he signed Neville - those promises are haunting us now in that we have a captain who has never been , and will never be a a regular midfielder in any other PL side except Everton -
just look at the poll - how can 64% of Everton supporters be wrong and 25% right - Mr Moyes and Neville should get the message - stuff your private deals and act in the long term interest of Everton - get us a real midfielder as soon as possible so we can fire on all cylinders -
i would even play Baines out of position there in def mid - which will bring him closer to the action where he wants to be and bring in Oviedo in at left back -

Our performance's as a team when Neville plays over the years and still now, whatever u think of his individual skill set warrents his inclusion in our squad.

if you (Neville) give yourself out as toffee you must expect to be licked (excuse the pun )
with that argument nobody in the team over the last couple of years should be dropped -
it reminds me of the story of the ant on the elephant's back saying when they cross the bridge : "Hell WE make this bridge squeak hey ? "

Neville's organisational skills are so, so important to us. This becomes obvious when he doesn't play, however when he does play we lose some creative spark and mobility in the midfield.

I wonder if he was a coach and had access to the pitch side technical area would he still be able to organise us as effectively? I'm thinking not.

At the moment our midfield options are:
A bit more creativity and mobility through the middle but less discipline
A bit less creativity and mobility but better organised .

I think we all know Moyes' preference.

NEville is fine for the squad...trouble we have is injuries to 2 of the mf......if fully fit we have

Neville good to have on the bench to cover rb/lb/dm.....also good pro etc....

If we had a fully fit squad imo he wouldnt be in the 1st team...we dont have buckets of money to have top players wasted in the bench.

Get Heitinga out Ofoe and donovan in......and that would improve our squad......we would need another cb and I thought that would be Forren but........

unfortunately this poll shows only 25% support for him amongst Everton fans - which most probably makes him the most unpopular player in the squad and the most unpopular captain in the PL -
he is doing something wrong in the eyes of nearly two thirds of the Everton fans- and neither he or Mr Moyes obviously see it or two thirds of the Everton fans have no clue about soccer - both scenarios are too ghastly to contemplate
