School Closures.

As one of those lazy arses in school I can confirm it's the school and not the council that makes the decision to close the school. I'm in work but not many kids as parents have made the decision not to send their kids.

They have to over emphasize it, as they know everyone knows the truth - 13 weeks holiday & home in time for Countdown most days, it must be ****ing draining like.....2 best things about being a teacher? July & August :)

firstly, it's not 13 weeks holiday - at most in a year its 12 weeks

secondly, most teacher stay until about 6 after getting there at 8

thirdly, teachers dont get july and august off, just august

fourth, the days off that teachers have are spent doing things like preparation, planning and doing courses

One teacher told me once, "people think we dont do a full days work, I get home most nights and have to do a further 2 hours work"

Great, you start at 8, finish at 3, work till 5, on MOST days. You then have 13 weeks holiday, bank holidays (I dont even want to get into the whole 'training day' thing) It must be a real hard life.

It's not the most difficult but it's also not the easiest of jobs. You are being awfully dismissive of a job I'm assuming you don't have first hand experience in.

It is daft how the country reacts to snow. Countries that really do have snow must laugh.

What would be the point in spending loads of money during an economic recession on snow clearing? It happens once or twice a year at the most. Russia and the likes are prepared for this because it happens every winter for a sustained period.

Lunch hour Pal.

how long do you get for your lunch? how many breaks do you get?

most of the teachers i work with have to work through their breaks and get reduced lunch hours meaning they work solidly for up to 8 hours sometimes without any breaks, not an easy job

God forbid that we'd allow a single person's wildly inaccurate take on things to denigrate the whole profession and the vast majority of schools that are open across the country. When it comes to 'lazy arse' can we include lazy arse knowledge, lazy arse thinking and lazy arse stereotyping?
Yes sir.
