Has Fellaini really got a £22m buyout clause in his contract ?

From what I read in the Press, the clause is only activated in the Summer transfer window and the buying team must be in the Champions league. I don't know if this applies to teams who need to qualify for the Champions League (like 4th place in Premier League)

Knowing our board I can see this being true, but I am surprised at the valuation, I would have hoped it was a little higher, closer to £30m

22million would be about right for a player like Fellaini, I don't think he is worth much more than that.

My brother got banned off here just for expressing his opinion on Fellaini, as he thinks he is defensively suspect and well over-hyped. Apparently holding this belief makes you open to accusations of 'being Staveros', and this results in an automatic ban.

It may shock some people, but whoever Stavros is, he isn't the only person who can see past the ridiculous over-hype of Marouane Fellaini. I was watching Al Jazeera TV yesterday, and even Joe Royle acknowledged Fellaini's dodgyness in his defence and inability to track runners.

Since when is a striker judged on his ability to track runners?

Sorry but unless I'm missing your meaning, then what you're saying makes no sense.

If there's a £22m clause, then there will be no bidding war.

A couple of people have said the same thing

If the buy out is 22m then he goes for 22m

He is a world class footballer who deserves to be plying his trade on the biggest stage.

What we should be debating is how we kick on from here and secure Champions League Football... Which unfortunately brings us back to the Kenwright debate and how he refuses to sell the club unless the new owners pay overs and keep him on as Chairman.

Sorry did I just that out loud.

Ignore me, carry on.

Well they are plentiful, and they played a big part in getting my brother banned off here.

Sure but that's a side issue.

We're talking about why as a fan I'd expect him to go for a figure closer to 30 million then 20. And his weaknesses in tracking runners shouldn't be part of that valuation because he ain't going to be played as defensive midfielder.

Anywhere between 25-35 seems a reasonable price for him. You'd hope we'd hold out for 28-29 at least.

Fair enough, but I disagree with your valuations.

I believe his right price is about 20 - 22 million, and that anyone paying 25million or above will be paying a hefty premium.
