The asking price banded about shows that he has no intention of doing right by the club unless it results in a nice profit for himself and the other shareholders.

What is the alleged asking price these days and who is being believed when they say it?

Ignoring the Rangers chairman, Trevor Birch said it was £150m or thereabouts on SSN a while back. I can't imagine it'll be lower as the new sky deal kicks in. An astonishing price considering the state of the club and the long term deals which have been signed.

The figure that was floating around was £150M, which was the figure that Keith Harris intimated would be 'about' the price needed to buy EFC during an interview with Sky.

The bottom line, is that it's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it & it's patently obvious that the asking price is the stumbling block to it being sold. As if it was for sale for £1, then there'd be a queue of takers, the fact that there's no apparent interest at all, that goes beyond the 'enquiry' stage, tells you all you need to know.

If he thinks he had to pay 300-400 million, whether thats true or not, you can see why his interest fizzled out.

Green is a no mark in EPL terms & would have been in no position to be talking to EFC about a takeover, unless he was heading up a consortium. I take his words with a pinch of salt, given that he's both clueless & has an axe to grind with EFC.

He was heading a consortium. I agree that he's probably not the most clued up about our situation though.

I think Neiler is almost on the money here IMO.

There is one easy fix and that is a sheik with a pot of money that he aligns to Everton as his plaything, but this is Everton and I don't want us to be a club that is a plaything like Abromovich's chelsea, or the ridiculous shenanigans of Man City even though it would great to watch on a saturday.

I want Everton to be up there with Manchester United / Arsenal in terms of building the brand, developing youth, and building (not buying) a great club like we did in the 80's. I know times have changed.

For us to do this requires a monumental overhaul in almost every direction.

Commercially we have to do everything we can. The TV money is happening already and David Moyes and his success on the pitch is helping us get more appearances hopefully this year and potentially next. New shirt sponsors, merchandising, AND increases in season tickets (even £2m - £3.5m) is needed. Every penny counts.

We do not have a Fayed or a Whelan filling in the gaps in our preferred pursuit for growth, in fact we have no pursuit of growth at all its all about survival, and that i feel our luck is running out. Could you imagine what would happen if we finished 8th with no cup and Moyes leaving. Yes we'd go on but for how long.

I have family who are RS season ticket holders and live in London communicating regularly with spurs, arsenal fans and it is always interesting to hear what else is happening.

I spent a couple of years driving Ellis Short of Sunderland whilst he made his billions so I get the basics of business i think.

When walking the dog in the local park which is next to the football pitches, you see Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool Man Utd shirts that the kids are wearing, but you NEVER ever an Everton shirt.

My cousin who lives in Halewood, tells me that in his whole class of 25 kids, there is one Evertonian - 1 ffs.

We;re having a great season on the pitch so far, but the alarm bells are clearly ringing for the future.

Bill loves the club, he's a fan and he does believe he is the best person for the job, which in the current board of directors from what i understand he probably is the best of a bad bunch. However, i've realised that if i wanted the TV series of Breaking Bad made into a musical, he's the man.

However, do I want my beloved Everton overseen by him and the likes of Elstone who he supports - God no.

What is my suggested solution, assuming a buyer can't be found? - Something to do with the fans.

I'm really worried about our FUTURE.

THAT is why we must win something absolutely shocking to read that, the board don't help but it's not the only reason.

Coventry ffs.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_valuation provides some clues as to how a business is valued.

Whilst it's not 'that' uncommon for companies to try and use turnover it's pretty rare, and even then it's unlikely that anyone would use a multiple of 2 times turnover, which is roughly what ours is.

For what it's worth, I've never really understood the importance of the stadium to a takeover. It's extremely likely that there are many more fans of the club than there are regulars to Goodison. A quick glance over this forum for instance suggests that there are a good number of people that never/seldom get to games.

One measure often used to determine a companies value is that of customer lock-in, ie how easy is it for them to go elsewhere. With a football club that's very difficult because the vast majority of fans remain fans for life. So we basically have a large number of 'locked in' customers that don't go to matches very often.

As the accounts show though, we're not tapping into this very well at all, with Man Utd earning 10 times as much merchandising income as we do.

We have to remember that the core match going market in Liverpool is not going to offer vast income rises because the area isn't as affluent as London so folks can't afford the prices paid by Spurs or Arsenal fans. A fan survey a few years ago found that the average income of a match going Evertonian was the lowest in the league. We saw from the Kirby project that it would only have raised income by a few million a year.

So we have a good number of fans from outside of the region that a) don't attend matches regularly, and b) may be richer than the average fan. Whilst we may get some money out of these folks via the trickle down from Sky, the merchandising figures show we don't do very well at marketing to this audience at all.

With a new stadium unlikely to happen any time soon, this seems by far the easiest way of growing revenue in the short-term.

The owners won,t knock the debt off the enterprise value as it would probably put the value below 100m.

In simple terms its GREED that drives the custodians and stewards of our historic club.
