If I recall correctly. Pienaar didn't even want parity with Arteta, he wanted slightly less, which I don't think was unreasonable in the slightest considering at that time he was performing better than Arteta by a good bit. He must have felt undervalued and I can't blame him for wanting to go on that basis.

Just think of yourself in your own job. What if the guy next to you was on double what you're on, and even though you're better at your job than he is, your employer won't pay you as much as him. Would you stay?

I'm staggered by your interpretation of events.

And Pienaar's form leading up to the move was actually rather poor, and anyone who thinks he was deserving of becoming our joint highest paid player on 75k a week is insane.

I doubt its a rare situation, either. I'm on enough, why should I care what other people on?

Lescott threw the game mate. The most unprofessional piece of **** I have ever seen. I understand at that point he wasn't getting his way, but when you are asked to do a job- and our getting paid ridiculous amounts to do that job- you get your head down and get on with it.

We would all be sacked with the job we wanted to go to also ending their interest, if we adopted his attitude in our every day jobs.

I'm sure it isn't either. Some people won't care what other people are on but in the case of Pienaar he obviously felt he was undervalued, and I agree with that. I had a dispute with a former employer because his son (who was also one of my best mates) was getting paid more than me, and by a good little bit too. He had been there a year longer than me but I was better than him at the job we did and I was more qualified, so he put me on level wages with him, which I thought was fair enough.

In football I don't think if you've been at a club longer it means you'll generally get paid more, it's usually on age and ability, and Pienaar was the better player at the time and slightly older. Maybe that was the logic behind the boards actions, but it backfired.
