A good point made on MNF that generally full backs don't defend as well anymore, so it's not just Coleman that makes mistakes it is a trend, so a few people on here jumping the gun about dropping him

To be fair Dylan, he's right. Dissing someone's nationality is only racist if you're dissing Chinese people because they're a race as well. Having a go at someone's nationality is xenophobic.

Xenophobia imples a hatred of all other nationalities though. Cultural racism seems more like the term we want or Ethnophobia, maybe? Nationality Discrimination?

Can you read?

The traditional definition of race and ethnicity is related to biological and sociological factors respectively. Race refers to a person's physical appearance, such as skin color, eye color, hair color etc. Ethnicity, on the other hand, relates to cultural factors such as nationality, culture, ancestry, language and beliefs.

Not racist at all. It's a nationality and related to ethnicity. Maybe you should go back to school

You're splitting hairs. There isn't "ethnicism" as the term already applies to something else, and ethnic discrimination (the correct term) is too much of a mouthful, so when people say racism in this sense, it means exactly what you'd expect it to mean - ethnic discrimination against a culture.

It really is tomayto/tomahto.

Racism has no strict scholarly definition, however it is widely accepted within society that stating somebody is inferior because of their nationality, skin colour or ethnicity is racist.

The damage or offensiveness of these kind of acts depends totally upon what is accepted within society, and as a result it is we as people who shape what racism is, and not any binding definition.

Calling somebody stupid and implying it's because they're Irish is racism. Pure and simple.

No you are dancing around the word ethnicy to band nationality as a race. It's not a race not racist to refer to someone's nationality. Enough said.

To add to the correct info from Brennan above, xenophobia is a fear of a nationality for no other reason than because they are from that country. You can still be racist towards a nationality by suggesting that character attributes are down to a nationality.

For example, saying that Igor from the hills of Romania robs people in the UK to feed his family in whatever s***hole village he comes from, just as a random example.
