If Neville was that crap then we wouldn't be sitting in 4th place, however you could look at it another way, and say that if we actually had a decent central midfield then we would probably be top of the facking league!

Like other people have already stated, if we hadn't have had Neville then we would have had Heitinga or Junior playing there instead, both of which are even crapper than Neville, considerably crapper IMO.

A one year extension makes perfect sense.

Quite. For all the naysayers, given our financial situation, who would be there instead? Hopefully Hitzleberger will come good and will take his place sooner rather than later, but realistically, over the last few months who else could we have had there?

Distin has looked better than Heitinga this season, and I can't help but feel that people are looking at Duffy through rose tinted glasses because he's home grown. I'd be surprised if he ever became a first team regular for us.

He's looked impressive. A commanding presence even at this early age. I can easily see him eventually coming through to the first team.

Last year he was brilliant when he came in, alongside Heitinga I think. Should never have been dropped when the others came back from injury.

Bang on my sentiments exactly and for those saying he is playing because we have nobody else to play in the centre of midfield that is bad management by moyes he should have signed someone in the summer.
I like distin but we need to blood the likes of duffy he looks good from what i have seen.

Zackly. People have it in their head that "foreign league" equals Serie A or La Liga when, in reality, most are gash standard compared to what Neville's currently playing with and against on a regular basis.

Distin is being used more spareingly this season. I'd imagine it'd be even more so next season. Is he worth a big wage?

Squad wise I think it's probably worth it, although the less I see of Neville the better and Distin has finally started to look his age a bit this season.

My main gripe is that they're both on pretty large wages. It should be possible to cut a players wages as they become less of an asset to the squad.
