Actually RUFUS, your actually wrong, maybe you should actually take onboard this fact and actually work on it?

Just sayin.

See this is what happens when you talk to Damon too much on twitter.

Next you'll be quoting figures and having crafty wanks to the sight of your neighbour doing the dishes.

Exactly. If Tubey's ignoring Dishonored as some kind of "ENOUGH WITH THE COPY PASTE FPS GAMES PLEASE" protest, it's a bad kind of irony.

Firstly, FPS is a genre. It just is.

Secondly, does Dishonored run on the Unreal 3 engine and "borrow" aspects from Thief, Skyrim, Metal Gear and - specifically - Deus Ex? Because that sounds the opposite to original to me!

Granted, I'm going on vids I've just watched of Dishonored rather than playing it (it looks like an up to date carbon copy of Deux Ex set in plague-infested London to me, but what do I know...), but it could be the greatest game of all time and I wouldn't care. You're 100% right - I'm against games of a first person perspective, because they all run on the same engines, they're all recycled with slight variation in gameplay and they're all preventing genuinely new ideas progressing in the market.

I don't know why you're getting so annoyed at my opinion btw

It's a turn based strategy game. The original XCOM is worshipped by strategy enthusiasts and so this remake had some high standards to live up to, but it's getting stellar reviews from critics and fans alike.

And no mate, it actually isn't a genre. Next time you post with the sole intent of making me look wrong, make sure that I'm actually wrong!

Xcom is epic, loved the original aswell

FPS is not a genre. That's not up for debate, lad. It isn't a genre. It's a sub-genre (I'd argue a sub sub-genre) at best.

I'm not annoyed with your opinion. I just don't like seeing people miss out on original games, and your reasoning (basically "there aren't enough original games") was kind of backwards.

Nothing is truly original, but I can't think of many Steampunk games. And there's not that many games that give you true stealth options. And there really aren't many games that actually allow so much choice that you can do a pacifist run. There aren't many games that shape not only the outcome of the game to your decisions, but also the world itself. So there aren't many games like Dishonored, and honestly I just think it would be a shame to miss out on it with a reasoning of it being unoriginal. That's really the last thing that comes to mind while I'm playing it. It's your choice and your opinion but I think said opinion has been formed strangely.

And is badly, badly wrong you proper mentalist.

The first line and the disambiguation text thinks differently ^^ It's quite blatantly a genre. Saying "sub genre" is apples and oranges.

If you want a good steampunk game, Shadowrun for both the Super Nintendo and the Sega Megadrive are still the very best you can get. They're still fantastic to this day.

It still runs on the Unreal 3 engine and is a Deus Ex clone set in an alternate landscape - which I know for certain to be the case now as you've just described Deus Ex to a tee :) At least it's trying something new-ish in a generation infested with sub standard shooters I guess, but I still won't go near it.

It is good to be honest mate

Not original though (to me), but definitely worth playing.

I haven't said it isn't good! I've just said I'm bored sh*tless of games in the first person perspective to the point where the greatest game of all time could be in first person and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. I can't stomach them anymore. I'm completely over-saturated. I cannot even bring myself to play Skyrim anymore!

I know it's not original though; Half Life, Thief, Deus Ex, Hitman, BioShock, Skyrim, Metal Gear etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. ^^ But RFUS is right in a way; very few games are completely original.

And yeah, it is very Deus Ex. Which I don't see as a bad thing. There's one Deus Ex series, there's a million CoD clones. You cannot equate all first person games as if they're the same.

And the unreal engine 3 is a fecking engine. Lost Odyssey uses it. Mass Effect uses it. The new XCOM uses it. That's just a ridiculous reason to ignore a game. You are right of course that it's a massively popular engine for these grey, drab shooters, but there's nothing implicitly wrong with it.

I agree with your sentiments; that's probably why I think your opinion is so frustrating.
