AJ to Villa

Why is there so much interest in AJ leaving all the time? And its always for fairly big money? He's proved now that he's not really a natural goalscorer in the premiership, but on the other hand he's got a great touch and bags of pace.

I wonder if we're secretly putting the word out that we're prepared to listen to offers?

if we sold him for 8 million we would be making a loss.

we don't seem to do that anymore.. so i can see anyone wanting to buy him starting at at least the 8.6 million we paid.

Well if this story was genuine, the first offer is always a tentative one, so if their coming in at £8M you know their prepared to go up. I doubt we'd sell at a loss. But you have to admit, as a striker, AJ just hasnt continued his earlier form with Palace in the premiership so the only reason we'd make a profit is because player fees have inflated since we bought him.

that's right sim. totally agree. AJ has been poor for a good few months now. but with prices they are these days 10 million for an england center forward looks cheap. i wouldn't mind keeping him another year to see if he can get the 20 goals he scored at palace for us.

I think he's got all the attributes of an Everton legend IF he could only bag 20 goals a season. You can see the way the fans take to him and he works hard and gets on with it. While Yak for example, can get you 20 goals, but due to his attitude, I dont think he'll ever be respected as much as AJ.

I agree, one more season to see if he can get his confidence together to get back where he was.

His first touch has been poor this season.

he's lost some of his pace too, last season he wouldn't have been outpaced by someone like Clichy. I hope it's an injury or something because in his debut season he was absolutely top class.

I'd sell for 8 million. We'd have enough time to put the money towards a better and more effective replacement. If no one comes in them keep him and hopefully Vaughan can stay fit and get infront of him.

Sorry just cant agree with that, compared with the rest of the team his touch is world class by comparison. His confidence is low and that affected his form.

Are you being serious? Bar Anichebe Johnson has the worst touch in the team. His first touch is like a pass. Even Palace fans know one of his weaknesses are his touch and tecnique. He has neither in his locker.

I thought his touch was average in his first season with us. It has nothing to do with confidence. Yakubu has a far better touch as do alot of our players.

Johnson's strenths are his pace and work rate. His touch is one of his weaknesses.

His 1st touch IS poor... maybe compared to some others in our team its ok but I can't think of many.

Don't get me wrong I like AJ and I can't see us getting a better or more honest back up striker to the Yak. I think his goal scoring record isn't bad although not great and he works his bloody arse off for the team.

If Vaughan was fit and injury free he'd be in the team over Johnson no problem, but with his problems i'd keep Johnson for now. I'd defo not sell him just to bring in some untried foreign player who may or may not adjust to the premier league.

What he brings to the team is hard work, honesty and some goals if not quite enough. He wont complain when used as a squad player and obviously loves the club. To me thats good enough and I dont see the point in selling him for anything less the £15mill... despite his poor 1st touch.
