"Discussions [with Arsenal] were at quite an advanced stage," he said. "But it was totally down to me to make the decision.

"From the word go I was impressed with how much the manager wanted me here.

"What's important to me is to get plenty of time on the field. I think I will get the opportunity to play more games and more minutes with Everton.

"Obviously Marouane [Fellaini] was a factor too."

Rightly so! He'd be a bench warmer for Arsenal. I'm also very glad Fellaini had such an impact on the signing. Moyes asked him for advice, Kevin asked him for advice.

Always good to hear stuff like this. I don't actually expect him to start on saturday and would be inclined to expect the same XI, but as I've said, the pressure has been taken off a bit by the fact we started so well, last night. I think it did Jelavic the world of good to watch us put in a huge shift against City the day he signed and I think Kev will have been inspired by what he saw last night.

i would expect some rotation, not sure if 4 days is enough to recover from a real battle like that

The funny thing is if he had signed for Arsenal people would call him a world beater. Signs for Everton he must just be ok. Perception is everything I guess.

Arsenal are no longer in a position to be regularly benching players who would get into Everton's first team.

With Arteta and Cahill both gone we need Fellaini to become for us in the next five years what they were in the previous five, i.e. the talismanic face of the club with a mutual bumchum relationship with Moyes.

Made up to hear Moyes is asking him for advice on transfers. He has to realise Goodison can be the house that Marouane built if he wants it to be. Why be a prince at Chelsea when you could be a king at Everton [(c) Copyright David Dein 2006]?

huh isn't that the third kit in the pic? Looks good!

He sounds like a really level headed guy. I can't imagine there are many players out there that would resist going to Arsenal even if they knew they might not get a lot of game time. He made this decision carefully, I think he is going to be a good player for us.(y)

I love how we obviously intended to build the team around Felli back when we bought him. Love how that is happening now. Boss man. We just need a few more Belgians in now. Too bad we've already missed out on De Bruyne, Hazard and Vertonghen (who we've all been linked with), but there's still the likes of Vossen and Benteke around, yeah? Courtois to replace Howard when felli's afro is gray?
