Man of the Match:

...wait for it...

Manny Fernandes.

That should just about seal up his move to Everton on a permanent basis much to the chagrin of about 20% of you.

Oh, and I think he "created a few chances" today.

Bring it Manny haters cause you've got nothing today. NOTHING !!!!

Just got back home from the match so here's a few thoughts. Don't have time to read through the thread so sorry if I'm repeating anything!

First things first, WHAT A GAME!!!! Brilliant performance from the lads, definitely the best football since Fiorentina. Yak gets 20, J-Lo gets 10, and our first pen of the season all in one day. Not too bad!

We were sat right at the back of the main stand. Will post a pic of my view (or lack of) of the Gwladys St. goal later

But it didn't spoil the day out, atmosphere was superb, I especially liked joining in with the 'cheer up Kevin Keegan song' :P Thought it was a nice touch at the end though when the Geordie boys clapped our fans and we returned the favour (y)

Great day to be an Evertonian, bring on a another crack at the UEFA next year :)

Sat watching Soccer Saturday with my stepson, who's home between semesters at the American college where he's on a soccer scholarship, and where the rest of his team mates were giving him stick about his team getting relegated to the Championship. When I tell you his team is Fulham you can see why it's a very happy household here tonight! (y)

I was impress with his performance today, still not at his best but his free-kick and crosses was great today and that's what I am impress and he seem to move around alot more.

Don't forget that one screamer he hit late in the 2nd half that Harper did well to parry away.

His confidence has gotten much better with each match he's played.

Perhaps he felt overshadowed by Arteta and/or Cahill when they played together but feels more like the "go to guy" when he's with Osman, Pienaar, and Carsley.

Who knows?

Ha ha, Yak secures our euro place, scores 2 goals and becomes the 1st Everton player to score 20 goals in a long time, yet Fernandes is MoM according to some deluded people. Laughable to say the least

Fernandes set up two so in a way he's contributed just as much as Yakubu. I don't think people are deluded for saying Fernandes was man of the match. He had a very good game and was our main creative force.

I can't really separate anyone today. I thought the team as a whole really took the game to Newcastle. An all round team performance for me.

Seeing as Fernandes got 2 assists, had alot of shots on target, set up many chances, and played better than yakubu, i think he deserves it. It is you who is deluded.

Aye i forgot his pee roller in the 1st half!! Then when he sh*t out of challenge when the ball fell to him in the box.

Alright lads no need for squabbling, it's happy days after all!

For what it's worth I would've given MOM to Pienaar (he put in one hell of a shift), so shows what I know! :)
