Played for a Uni diggs team last year but haven't played for a while. I need to find a team when I get home from this voluntary stuff I'm doing, I love playing 11-a-side.

Play twice a week under the lights on what you guys are calling a 3G pitch. It drains incredibly well, so you can play in the rain, or after a lot of rain, and the pitch is still dry. No bumps or divits, so passing and control are a breeze. Play with Brazilians, Brits, Irish, Greeks, Ukrainians, and of course, a bunch of red-blooded true blue Yanks like myself. Scored a Cruyff-like behind the back flick goal last week. The type of **** that would have got me punched in the face if it didn't work.

My lad has just moved teams as another in the area said they would enter another team in the league if they got enough.
Last Night after 3 training sessions they played against the clubs existing team, who have won the league and cup the last 2 seasons, and they beat them 4-3 with my lad bagging the 3rd to put them in front. So 1st game for them and they beat the champions (only 2nd or 3rd defeat ever).

My bedroom floor gets covered in the bloody things when they fall out of my boots after i take them off!

But yeah, 3g pitches are lush, i play on one every Wednesday night in a semi serious game with mates. Been on a bit of a losing streak lately and only won twice in 2 months but won last week so hopefully my luck has changed.

I even scored 2 own goals in 2 weeks whilst playing in goal :(

Haha, my bro scored the best own goal the other week. He was the keeper, and one of the oppo put him on his arse and went round him, but too wide. As he hit it back across the goal my bro has lent back to get a hand on it, only to bat it onto his foot and overhead kick it into the roof of the net!! (6-aside) :D :D

ffs lost 19-20 after being in the lead all game :(

And got absolutely soaked playing in a thunderstorm till we got told we had to go inside, that was fun.

Came out of retirement 3 years ago for a corporate tournament, tore some ankle ligaments in the first game, went back into retirement. Can still play Field Hockey though, or could until I tore a cartiledge last month ffs, should be fixed next month and back for next season. Old age ffs.

Our season's over half way through, sitting 3rd on the table this year and only a few points off top spot so if we keep our good form going could take the whole thing out. Last game we won 7-2 against our town rivals, one of the best days we've had in a few years.

Similar to my team (Sitting 3rd and a few points off first). We were first, then we played second and they battered us 5-0 and we've been a downhill slide since. Whereabouts in NZ you play?
