WARNING Trible Alert : Everton won't meet Valencia asking price for Fernandes

Personally, I'm getting a bit indfferent. He has class but I dont think we've gotten the most out of him (injuries etc and not knowing where his best position is) but I do believe that would be improve if we got him pre-season, worked him into the team.

But 5-6mill on current form is belivable (at a push) and if Valencia want more, they're barking up the wrong tree. He's not worth 12mill when you can get a Nani, Anderson, Arshavin for eg, for around that price or less.

But its all about if Moyes wants him. If Manny puts on a star turn this Sunday, the deal could happen. But if Moyes has eyeballed someone else, he's gone.

Nobody's interested in him, apart from us. There's not rumours of a side looking out for him, or Valencia wanting him back etc so I think if he's gonna move to a club it'll be ours. Its all down to how much or if Moyes wants him - but he's not going to pay 12 mill for him, no way.

Cannot see him accepting another loan period which is effectively a trial ,he will feel that after two loans we either put up or shut up.I would like him to stay as I feel he improves the squad but can not see Moyes and co. splashing any more than£6million which could be a steal if his form returned and if Valencia accepted the offer.I would like to know how much we have to spend as we have proved we are desperate for more quality players in a few positions

I think it is Manny who needs to be doing that (y)

Interesting comment.

And what standards would those be?

Presuming you could define those standards, how much would those standards cost?

He is an attacking midfielder who doesnt create. Not much use to anyone really!
A midfielder who hardly tackles. Not much use to anyone really!
A midfielder who never looks like scoring. Not much use to anyone really!

His workrate has improved but not much else

I'll ask the question again.

Presuming Manny isn't up to the "standards of Everton," what would those standards be and how much would they cost?

And apparently you haven't watched the last several matches where some of our best chances and scoring opportunities were created by Manny.

Not by Pienaar, not by Osman, not by Carsley. But by Manny.

Well considering he is being talked about as being worth 6m more than Arteta i would say he should be at least up to his standards which he quite clearly isnt.
What goal scoring chances were these? There hasnt been many lately

I can think of two set pieces that whizzed right by the post, one of which I believe was against Birmingham and the other I can't remember who it was against. It was a 2nd half strike though at Goodison.

He certainly isn't worth more than Arteta so if were using Arteta as the measuring stick for Everton standards, then he obviously isn't there.

But then let's also remember that Arteta in this transfer market would run anywhere from 10-15M range depending on who's inquiring.

I think a reasonable price for a player of Manny's caliber is in the 6M range give or take 1M. I'd be fairly confident in saying that Moyes would probably value him in that range too and wouldn't pay anymore than that.

The question would be is Valencia willing to take a loss on him. They've got to realize (I hope) that they overpaid for him last year and would only recoup a portion of what they spent on him.

The good news is that Everton is in the driver's seat on this one. If we want him, we'll pay what we think he's worth but no more. If they try to hold us to ransom, then we'll just turn our attentions elsewhere. We don't have to buy Manny, even if we think he could help us next year.

I will ask the question again

What goal scoring chances has he created? Your really struggling if your counting free kicks as creating chances

simple put all the eggs in the basket and buy proven quality in Bentley, england midfielder, great play maker and can score goals before the [Poor language removed] buy him, he is pure quality, has been all season long for blackburn.

I wouldnt disagree with that, cant see it happening though

Man.

I tried to be as polite as possible with you in my response but apparently you're gonna start up again. What is it with you?

Just last week he created a chance for AJ which was blocked. Did you miss that one? Do I need to point out the blindingly obvious to you?

And free kicks almost going in all of a sudden don't count as chances on goal?

Don't make me laugh.

Spend more time watching matches and less time trying to be clever on Everton forums and you just might see something.

I try and be polite and give you the benefit of the doubt and you throw it back in my face.
A free kick is a shot on goal, do you not understand what CREATING a chance means?
Yes he did create 1 chance for Aj on sunday, is 1 chance every few games worthy of upwards of 6m? I think not

Fernandes isn't an attacking midfielder. Alot of people get mistaken because he has alot of attacking qualities. He's a deep lying play maker who brings players into the game with his passing. If you watch him closely alot of the time when he's playing centre midfield he has the ball in a deep position.

He's a potential match winner in my opinion. The pass against Derby for Leon's goal, the skill and through ball to AJ v Spurs, the skill and through ball against Arsenal aswell as the shimmy and back heel that created Osman a chance against Blackburn.

Its not his fault his strikers can't finish off the chances he creates. He is the only player in this current squad capable of playing a through ball.

Gee. How did I know that "one chance" would be thrown back in my face as well when I answered your question.

If you don't like the answers, then don't ask the questions. Questions frankly which no one else is asking right now.

FACT. Manny over the past three or four matches has created more than Osman and Pienaar.

...and I don't have to ask you about the ones that Osman and Pienaar created because, unlike some of us, I actually watch the matches in their entirety and pay attention.

This concludes TX Bill's schooling of MoyesBlueWhiteArmy/BobTheSnatch/HalewoodBlue.

if a loan period is effectively a trial then looks like he'll be heading back, 12 million is a hell of alot from our budget, if we'd signed him and not got the yak where would we have finished this season ? yes we've seen what he can do and thats why we were prepared to break the bank last season, now weve seen his flip side and to be honest i'd send him back, on this years evidence i'd say more like 1.2million, no-one else (ok maybe wobbly neck) will come in for anything more than 5mill.
it'll have to be some performance on sunday to convince after what we've seen so far.
